he had a little rash but was OK. he commented later on how he didn't know much about sport bikes. I think he rides choppers. Ill see if I cant find a date. I know its old, I watched it on the original air date and I haven't had cable tv since late 2006 I think maybe 07
That crash happened in the fall of 05 or 06 if I remember right. Rich didn't like all the criticism and ridicule he received from riders. On his "Pinks Radio" at the time he went off a bit. Which was unusual for him. By the time it aired it had been months since it happened but it was still a hot button for him. I had a recording of it but I think it was lost on a crashed drive. I remember quoting it on a chat site back then. There were a few "Pinks" participants on that board. I'll search and see if I can find the old quote.
It was 06. The ridicule on the net got to him and he commented on his "Pinks Radio"
(Below is from a post of mine on another site oct25 '06)
http://richchristensen.com/radio/PINKS/10112006.mp 3 (Link is long dead, they ceased pinks radio soon after) Rich counters on pinks radio with "I've been riding since 1969... We don't wear helmets in Iowa.... My home town doesn't have a speed limit over 35... I never wear a helmet unless I go on the highway."
Fair enough, I don't believe in forcing helmets on people. However it is safer to wear one. Despite his protests that it takes to much effort to put a jacket and helmet on for a short ride he should be able to flip a jacket and helmet on in 10 seconds. He states how they have to put a ramp over the cables they run for production. Ok, if you knew that before the incident, why didn't you see it? Now if the production crew didn't have an obstruction like that marked it's their fault for the accident.
But listen to him as he's pissed and finally lets his tv front fall away as he unloads. 13 minutes into it. "All the haters, you can go 'F' yourselves. Every single one of you. You know, can't wait till you go down on a bike and I can laugh in your face. You know, seriously, all you guys who threw me under the bus on this thing, you hear me loud and clear, You go 'F' yourselves. I hope you go down and the same thing happens to you and I will spit on top of you. So thanks"

At that time, there was only a few stills of him and the bike on the ground and a second or two long clip of sparks flying off the bike. So his explanation sounded somewhat credible without contradictory evidence. The airing of the show clearly counters his accident reason. He claimed cables for the production crossed the return road that he didn't see and crashed as a result of running over them wrong. How some cop or something had told him later there was no way he could have saved it yadda yadda yadda......
Those cables he had already crossed before getting on the gas. (trying to do an aggressive launch for the audience no doubt)
I've seen recently a couple bike drag variations he's tried to sell to speed. "Armdrop Bikes"

Hahaha, I can laugh now, as you will, because it took me a while the first time I saw it too. When someone ordered the cake they wanted; Best Wishes Suzanne and (Underneath that) We Will Miss You. The Under Neat That is just.. well.. icing on the cake.
