How sweet would it be for EBR to have a bike in Darkar. Based on a stock bike with available from the catalog bolt on parts. |

That VW is F'ing cool! If the Rooster had even made it to market it could have been there but would have needed a 9 gallon or so fuel tank. Looks like a damn hard course. One note... Was the crashed helicopter the same one caught in another photo chasing a vehicle at about 10 feet off the deck? |

Good for them running the race again. I still expected to see a couple of Speck op Cheno's with 50 cals and SAW out in the mix, just in case |

Pic #12 has been rotated right 45 degrees for effect. Lay your head on your right shoulder and you'll see what looks to be a steep downhill is actually flat. The car is about to go up a steep hill and the copter is flying level. Had me fooled. The next time I ride out in the desert, I'm laying my camera off on an angle. My riding skills should improve dramatically. |

Did anyone notice the footprints in #13? Where exactly was someone going? Maybe they stopped and took a peek over the hill first. But really cool pics! |

My kids gave me the Ewan McGregor/Charlie Boorman series Long Way Round/Road to Dakar/Long Way Down dvd's for Christmas. Talk about getting stuck on movies. The Dakar one gives a lot of coverage of what the race is like for the rider, what the equipment is and does and of course how hard it is. I didn't realize how expensive it is to do that race either. They were talking about the GPS that is monitored back in France or someplace. If the rider hasn't moved for a period of time an operator comes on and asks if you are ok. I thought that was pretty cool. |

I find the presence of the Chinese bike interesting, a bit like the emergence of Japanese bikes in the early sixties, the Chinese make a lot of dirt bikes, if they can get their quality in order we may see a whole lot of new arrivals |

It seems the two Chinese bikes are Yamahas. |
