Just when I think it can't get any worse..... "Married couples in France could end up with criminal records for insulting each other during arguments. Under a new law, France is to become the first country in the world to ban ' psychological violence' within marriage. The law would apply to cohabiting couples and to both men and women." This has been old news on this side of the pond for a bit, I think it's kind of funny. Lets just pray the Italians don't pass something like this, every person would have a record. But really? Is someone really going to go to the fuzz cause their spouse called them such and such? It would all be hearsay so it's not like they would have hard evidence. |

Why would you yell at your wife? If I was going to yell at her, I wouldn't have married her. No amount of good words will ever erase that one time you said something bad to her. Put on your tinfoil hat and think about where this path of laws will wind up. |

No way I yell at my fiance. Her dad would have my head on a silver platter. She's yelled at me before when I got my 300$ speeding ticket. And people think getting ragged at sucks, try getting ragged at in Arabic! |

In that case then yes, they should ban it. Psychological violence can f*ck you up the rest of your life. Physical will too but psychological and emotional will wind it's way into every little thing you do. Psychology was my fav class in HS besides auto-tech. I took psych, applied psych, and adv. psych and I'll tell ya, psychological violence is some deep shit man, very deep. That's all applied psych pretty much was, how violence shapes the mind. Look at some of your famous serial killers, 9/10 will have had some sort of psychological violence before they turned nuts. |

+1. I know people that are mentally scarred due to physiological violence. Not a pretty picture. |

Boy, thank goodness I'm not French. Just this evening, I informed my bride of 21 years that since she refuses to put gas in her own car when it is cold out, and drives the car home empty to make me do it, that she is in fact a tubeloidial buttnoid. |

LMAO must be damn cold there. You shouldn't believe everything they print in the Mail, it's an anti-euro tabloid. Also the French are no more stupid than anyone else, & are more than willing to take to the streets to stop daft legislation. Watch out for those billygoats now. |

Grumpy, the point is your government passed that law. The citizens shouldn't need to "take to the streets" to stop a democratic government from imposing "cradle to grave" policies and laws on their citizens. |

It's a proposed law & hasn't even been presented to the senate yet to my knowledge. It will no doubt be subject to much debate & modification before it gets voted on. Even if it does make the books, as for other inane & pointless laws, it'll be ignored. In the finest French tradition naturally. |
