My wife and 3 daughters and myself, met with a woman who breeds labradoodles, and well things went very well.

Here's our new 9 week old 8 pound labradoodle "Max".

and the wiener seems to be cool with him too.

A;ll in all it was a great experience, it was not a puppy mill, and the woman truly seemed to love the breed. The amount we paid was just a bit above what it cost her to actually have a vet check the dogs so that made it even better. Hopefully we have a great family pet on our hands.

On a side note, I have never seen a standard poodle before. Holy shit...thats one hell of a dog!!!

You have water retrievers on both sides - Start the training NOW or you will have hell to pay.

Retrievers are a bit like males unless they are on the job they are getting into mischief (ask your wife).

Think it is out of print but the book I like best is "Training Your Retriever" by James Lamb Free

Beautiful dog! Congratulations!!!

+1 on the training.

Standard Poodles are cool dogs. My folks neighbor has two all black ones-very nice dogs, but high energy. To her credit she does agility training and keeps them exercised and trained.

Awesome Shawn! He is just gorgeous : )
I like the non-curly look in the puppies, and I'm sure he will be a great family dog in the long run. How could you not love a little face like that.

One of my friends had a full grown poodle. Great dogs (not my cup of tea) but he was huge and pure black...could be "none more black".
If they are not trimmed and pampered to look stupid they are not what you would expect a poodle to look like huh?

Good that the rat gets along with him, he will outgrow him very quickly!

I just found out that the standard poodles were bred to retrieve waterfowl.

Our labradoodle will lay in a pile of snow and be happy. It will be a good dog for New Hampshire. They are good all around, congrats, yours is a good looking pup.

I'd be interested to know if it sheds like our 50/50 mix. I think the ones that don't shed are 3/4 poodle.

Spatten, that sounds right. I know it's not quite the same; but I worked in a lady's house that had a golden doodle (golden retriever/poodle) and a labradoodle and she said that the golden didn't shed at all, but the labradoodle did shed some.

Cool dog. we love our (very manly) Toy Poodle. Sounds like a good combo! Poodles don't shed at all and your doggie won't either.
