More pussyfooting about CO2, the Earth has gone through this cycle before. Just let it run its course, if humans die then humans die. We're just like every other animal on this planet except we can think, which isn't always a good thing.

Ya know what pisses me off a little people . I don't know much about science but I have lived in NJ for my whole life thats right dirty Jersey guess what it aint dirty no more in comparisson. When I was a kid heavy metal pollution chemical pollution coal pollution pestside pollution and other Industrial pollutions made godammed rivers burn and people DIE I have seen it with my own eyes. That doesn't happen anymore I love green ideas cause I want to keep cleaning up our way of life but our climate has nothing to do with man made problems it just doesn't. There are more wooded area's hear then when I was a kid the were no animals now I have deer and bear and falcons and don't give me that they were always here crap there is just nowhere for them to go cause that aint true hear, There were about 100 acres of change in the last 30 years and there are about 50% more wooded are's than there were.
We need to weigh out not buying products made in filthy conditions like like China,India and Mexico and even though we will pay for it get greener technologies working for us and we can clean up the planet for our children that is a MORAL IMPERATIVE but it doesn't change climate I don't agree.

It would be even less if you used your hand.

Your insistence upon the use of toilet paper demonstrates a general lack of commitment to our environment.

Navajo County has a population of about 26k. It's cheaper to give them bottled water than to spend billions researching and attempting to clean their water. The Great Lakes affect more people.

There are actually 97,500 people as of 2000 census.

It's almost 10,000 square miles of land.

I have a challenge for those who claim global temperature changes can be predicted.

1. Pick an average spring fed farm pond of two to five acres in the Midwest.
2. Place thermometers in a ten foot grid pattern at a depth of 6 inches over one square acre in the pond water.
3. Ask your favorite global temperature expert to predict the temperature each thermometer will read within one degree F, hourly for the month of July.
4. As a bonus I will give them the last week of June to fine tune their predicting technique.

Prediction:
Not only will your global temp expert's predictions fail, they will fail miserably.
Now ask your expert how he can predict the global temperature to fractions of a degree over decades.

Ding ding ding... both of you are indeed incorrect... the Navajo population exceeds 250,000 in the year 2009... over 80,000 currently have no drinking water... their water was contaminated by Uranium Mining and there is no cost effective way to clean it... a water pipeline is being built to service those residents that have no clean drinking water...

Ft, the figure you quote is for the entire population of Navajo County. The figure I found from Wiki is just for the Navajo Indian population. My bad.

The Navajo Nation original reservation also covers over 27,000 square miles of land... but of course that was checkerboarded by the Dawes Act... which essentially alloted land to individual Indians and called the rest surplus... that was given to white settlers for pennies on the dollar... so the actual Trust Land I would guess is less than half of the original reservation...

Mind you, the population estimates that the Navajo Nation Government quotes are for Tribal Members... wether on or off the reservation... Tribal Members can be defined by one of several methods... blood quantum estimates a % of Navajo "Blood" which is calculated using Tribal roles back to the time of settlement...

Then there are cases such as Red Cliff Lake Superior Chippewa (a former employer of mine) that uses the lineage method... if you have one drop of RC Chippewa "Blood" or one ancestor that was a Tribal Member, then you are in...

I'm still waiting for an explanation on why global warming, if the majority of it is "man made", is also occurring on nearly every planetary body in our solar system.

You were dead on target until you got to 'green' technologies. Green has become associated with curbing CO2 which has nothing to do with cleaning things up that actually have a negative impact on our lives.

I fully believe in man induced climate change. There's a book that claims that the conversion of forest into artificial swamp ( rice paddies ) in asia 18,000 years ago may be the main reason that we have not fallen into an ice age. Lots of methane from rice paddies.

I just know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that the "global warming" movement itself is a con. Al "he played on our fears" Gore has made close to $200,000,000 on this con. The revival of medieval indulgences ( see catholic church/protestant reformation/Martin Luther ) where you pay the Bishop a contribution to get a slip of paper that absolves you from your sins. That's Carbon Credits. The Gorical sells them. Even sells them to himself, making the Prophet of Tennessee sin free, even though he uses more natural resources in a month that I use in years.

I don't begrudge anyone a mansion, private jet travel, or riding around in a chauffeur driven SUV. ( that last is a requirement, he's under SS protection )

Just don't tell me my 55 mpg M2L, my 40+ mpg VW, or my ( more every month as I can afford it ) well insulated little house makes me fraking evil. I'm a conservationist. I think Ducks Unlimited is the most effective group saving wetlands around. The Sierra club used to be great, now...?

Pollution is bad. Spending a trillion dollars to "save the planet" by taxing my fuel usage and lining Al Gore's gold plated pocket, ( or East Anglia's liers ) is money not spent on cleaning up the sins of the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, when we were less "aware" of the cost of dumping toxic waste everywhere. I've lived & worked near Kodak in Rochester. Holy Gaia! Riding a bicycle past the "treatment" site next to the River you slow down as you go through the miasma. Downhill. Kodak Park? An unholy wasteland, ( they tear buildings down like crazy to avoid taxes ) and I'm told that there are areas where the selenium content is so high you can expose bedrock & get a current. Local, well paid, experts assure me the percentage of people with visible growths on their heads that live next to the Park are just a statistical fluke.

Live responsibly, and don't join evil religious cults like Jason has..

An anecdote on conservationist, vs. Greenie.

A swamp south of Syracuse NY was sold to a developer. Big sign, "on this site blah blah homes". The Greenies made signs & picketed. Big fence & gate goes up. Lawsuits were filed, and people felt great because "they were doing something!".

Ducks Unlimited had dinner.
Then they bought the swamp.
Now it's a Park. Donated it to the State and it will stay wild. Not one dime in tax money.

"Snowstorm squelches climate change protest"

jason, I understand you believe the Gorical... but what if, just imagine for a second, that the Earth was cooling. ( like it actually has for a decade )

Then the so called solutions to global warming would be the exact wrong things to do. Might even kill billions of people as crops fail and starvation, mass migration & war ravage the Earth.

The only people who insist Earth isn't cooling are the people who lied about the data proving the temp rise in the first place. ( & there is no doubt that the Earth DID warm in the 1990's. The FREAKING SUN WAS HOTTER!! )

If you lie about the data, lie about your methodology, and try and suppress & destroy your critics, it's NOT SCIENCE. It's politics.

We really need good science on this issue. We may need to paint all our roofs black to absorb more heat. Or not.

http://blogs.america.gov/science/2009/06/09/paint- your-roof-white-and-reduce-global-warming/

Don't forget FOE. Friends of the Earth has been "allegedly" involved in terrorism, as has PETA.

I say allegedly to use the same terminology as the President of the United States. You apparently are "alleged" when you are caught red handed, confess, have your terrorist orginization announce your success to the planet, and burned yourself in your alleged arson.
