I have been scammed. I believed the ACAI Berry Advertising and ordered a 1.99 trial bottle off the internet. I figured my Buell would be faster if I dropped 20 pounds. There are many glowing reviews and testimonials about the product. But in reality, its a hoax to get your credit card number. So I ordered this stuff from acaipuredetox.com, a 1.99 30 day trial. 14 days later, my credit card gets hit with a 83.95 charge and a 2.51 Offshore Currency Exchange Fee. (actually double that since I also ordered the Colon Cleanse). I called them up and they refused to refund the money. They also said that I could not return the product. I called back three times - and was never able to talk to the manager - and was consistently told then same thing. I talked to a girl named Sara -#630 - she was pleasant but adamant that they would not be doing a refund. I have to imagine that employee turnover there is incredibly high. I called my credit card company and disputed the charges. I also contacted the Arizona Better Business Bureau, Attorney General's office, and ABC Channel in Phoenix. I have done a little investigation - This seems to be a very flighty company operating in Phoenix/Scottsdale. There are numerous complaints about them that can be found on the internet: For example: http://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/acai-pur e-detoxcolon-cleanse-xr-c279257.html However, they have been very succesful in hiding these scam complaints - if you google ACAI Berry Scams - the top searches will take you to "Articles" that are really advertizements. If you go to their webpage (www.acaipuredetox.com) and then try to leave it, you are prompted to stay on the page and they will drop the price to 1.99 The page states that there is a 30 day money back guarantee - but it also says your getting billed in 14 days (which I did not see the first time that I read through the page). If you sign up for a 1.99/4.99 trial - you get hit with $85 charges 14 days later. Not sure how they can claim it to be a 1.99 trial - and then tell you that its a 30 day money back guarantee and then 14 days after you order the product, the charges hit. In my case, I did not receive the product for about a week after I ordered it, so I had about 7 days to verify the accuracy of their claims. They claim to have a 30 day money back guarantee, but its really 14 days - Its a scam to get your Credit Card Number. They are using a offshore bank - so your credit card also gets hit with "Currency exchange fees". If you call them, they will not reverse the charges, or take their product back. The webpages change on a regular basis - so make a copy - Some places say 14,17, or 30 days - but in any case once they have your money - they refuse to do a refund. They change address and company name every few months. They currently claim to be Fullfillment Center 4141 E Raymond Street Suite F Phoenix, AZ 85040 But I also believe that they are IOS Marketing 3200 N. Hayden Rd. Ste 310 Scottsdale, AZ 85251 If you want to contact customer service - its 866-466-0287 and 800-382-4244 |

Why do you hate multi-level marketing? |

I think that they figured out how to get their stuff to the top of the "google" search results. Seems wrong somehow. |

I hate MLM. It's the biggest scam on the planet. People like this have taken it to an all new level of scum. |

These so-called free trials are pretty normal. Even Lance armstrongs' endorsement of FRS does it. (very similar) |

I use PayPal plug-in on my web browser that allows me to generate a single use credit card. Single-use cards are designed for a single purchase on one website. You generate a Secure Card number that allows a single purchase to be completed even if it requires separate charges, such as for multi-part shipments, back-ordered items, or trial-period subscriptions. In these cases, you may see more than one transaction associated with a single-use card. Each single-use card has a limited duration and can no longer be used after the entire purchase is complete or you close the card. The limit for any single-use card is 4 authorizations from a single merchant or an expiration date up to 2 months from the creation date, whichever comes first. You can close the card at any time before it expires. As you can see, a merchant can make up to 4 charges. However, you have the option to close the card. So, after you make a purchase immediately close the card. https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_vdc- hub |
