Well at least some of the public think I am. I was wearing my new Buell Mechanics jacket when we went out for breakfast this morning. Wife and I pulled into our favorite resturant parking lot and I let her out to reserve our place. Due to my "parking karma" a parking space opened up 3 spaces down. I quickly pulled into the space as an SUV turned the corner and honked at me 2 or 3 times? (guess he thought it was his???) Anyway I finished my parking and the SUV driver pulled into a space on the next row.
As I was exiting my F-150 I heard this voice say: "I guess I shouldn't mess with a gang member over a parking space!" At first I didn't even think he was talking to me. He then announced that he had never heard of the "Buell Gang". I turned and informed him that the only Buell gang was a gang of American motorcycle riders and his ignorance must be bliss. BTW, have a merry Christmas!
His Wife grabbed his sleeve and started to chastise him right in front of their three teenage children.
Oh well, if I'm going to be a gang member, then this is the "gang" I want to belong too.
I was stuck in traffic once, and the guy behind me kept honking his horn (as if I could go anywhere). I finally had enough, and got out of the car, walked back, knocked on his window (which he refused to roll down) and asked him, "Where in the f&$k do you think I can go? Stop honking your f'ing horn you a$$hole!"
Once I got back in my car I thought, "Humm, glad he didn't have a gun."
Just as an aside, the reason I don't like the new Buell logo, and I know it might be from a family crest, is that it looks too much like the HA's on a quick look.
Maybe that's what the guy saw, I don't know.
I do know I won't wear it for that reason. The red and whites situation around here is a little testy and I don't want a quick look to lead to a quick response.
When I received my 300$ ticket for going 135 in a 50, the sheriff asked me if I was in a motorcycle gang. Then he paused and said 'Or a club?'. Should've told him I was a Hells Angel, but then I probably would've sat the night out in the Drunk Tank.
Back a few years ago my brother and I went to a funeral for a guy in Denver that had died on the way to the Red River Run, I didn't know the guy, but my brother did, he owned a bar. Turns out he was a Bandito and both my brother and myself got a visit from ATF to find out why we were there, they used our plates to track us down, it was a motorcycle parade funeral. I wonder how many others they visited because it was a large procession. We didn't have a clue he was a Bandito until after we got to the funeral a saw MANY there. So there ya go. Strange occurrences.
This cager was an uninformed moron that had his wife decorating his SUV with wreaths and Santa Claus hats. He had a brown fedora on making him look like an Indiana Jones wanna-be! That's probably where he got the cajones to even say something to me. Next time I'll pull my .40SW PPS out and pop a few caps into his tires for being such a MORON!
Will I stop wearing this jacket HE!! no! Do I have any issues with the design of this jacket HE!! no.
It's kind of ironic since HOG P.O.T. (Primary Officer Training) clearly lets everyone know what makes up "colors" and having one patch does not come anywhere close to qualifying.
I've run into morons like this before and I didn't even have any patches on, I was just riding a motorcycle. I've had them complain that I took a WHOLE parking space for one little motorcycle. I had one SUV driver try and move my motorcycle so he could park. I walked up to him and asked his name so I could tell 911 who was stealing my motorcycle. He stopped and could not figure out what he was doing wrong. I asked him if he wanted to talk to the local LEO now or after he talked to my Glock 27. He left right away w/o parking but with his Wife bending his ear.
"see see rider, girl see, what you've doooone, oooh oooh, see see rider" ccryder, you're only making bad examples of bikers with you being tough and telling that guy to talk to you smith and wesson. I realize touching someones motorbike without ones permission is like f*cking their wife, but when people bitch about bikers cause they're 'tough' and make people talk to their guns, it makes me wanna puke.
Awesome movie, I love the whole "Bullshit! You could suck a golfball through a garden hose!" or "The best part of you ran down your mama's ass crack and ended up as a stain on the sheets!"
Over in the UK it's a different story than here in the USA. We are allowed to legally carry and defend ourselves and our property. Unlike your neck of the woods we can defend ourselves.
This is not a thread to discuss gun control or 2nd amendment rights. If you want to go there, please start your own thread.
Whoa, CC, don't interpret my comments as anything more than what I said. They describe the choices I'm making in my setting. You're a grown-up, I respect that.
Obviously EB is not stupid, neither are the consumers that like that design. Stupid is making a comment, maybe based on a first look, before taking a better look.
Me, I always take the full parking space, diagonal at the start of it. That way, the space is obviously taken. Nobody can try and squeeze in because they thought it was empty and ... oops.
Here, two bikes at a meter, one will get a ticket. I take the full space, from the road edge. Again, as visible as can be.
(For clarification only, without going any deeper, British law/Canadian law allow self-defense.)
I take up a whole space myself, one way or another we "pay" for it. Usually in the USA we do't get ticketed for 2 or 3 bikes in a space.
Most states have enacted what's called the "Castle Doctrine". In lay terms it extends your right to protect yourself, your family beyond your "doors" to your vehicle if you are in fear of your life. Car jackings, robbery, kid napping etc, fall into this category.
The "Castle" is embedded in our common law system and is the source for US laws. The difference is the legal definitions of weapons and roles of the state. After that, it's the same.
You're right, this part of the discussion would be for another thread, and I've seen how those go.
