Thanks for checking guys. Good to know about 12/14. The guy at my dealer didn't mention that. Man it is tough going this long without the Uly. Chris |

This might be a good time to start making a list of equivalent part numbers. This temp sensor is very likely a widely available automotive part. Anyone know what it is? As Harley loses its enthusiasm for supplying Buell parts at a reasonable price, it will probably fall to us Bad Webbers to find alternate sources. I know that things like the clutch and alternator are easily available from third market Harley suppliers. Other items like brake pads, and James Gaskets are upgrades from the OEM parts. Let's get started. Blake? Parts equivalency topic? |

Az_m2, These guys can probably find you the right part number and get it cheaper and faster than most H-D dealers. <Non-sponsor promotion removed> (Message edited by ft_bstrd on December 12, 2009) |

Same thought here. I've spent hours trying to find an equivalent, without success. The final drive belt should be available too. |

I remember a thread in Court's section after Oct. 15. It was all about suppliers and parts for Buell motorcycles. I think the thread mysteriously dis-da-peared. Were we warned by HD or others not to do this list??? |

Ah, another one of those steep discount sites that never have what you want in stock, and then they hold onto your money for 2 months before they get it in stock. Oh, then they ship you the wrong part! Been there, done that. |

somehow I don't think there is this type of service at non sponsoring dealers That is an Accurate statement, WE MUST support our sponsors. I wish that folks would "GET IT" and remember that our sponsors keep this place going. If you want to send another member info on a non sponsor part or service PM them... ,better yet consider contacting a sponsor about them providing it.. Has anyone had any luck locating the engine temp sensor? I have an order placed with Harley that has been back-ordered for months. They keep pushing the date back, was supposed to be processed today and AGAIN it was pushed back another week. Im sick of this! I've called dealers and shops across the U.S. as well as the internet. ANY HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED. Thanks guys |

Or does anyone know the resistance of the sensor so I can attempt to use something similar... |

This is a prime example why the supplier of this part should be divulged. Someone builds this part. It shouldn't be this difficult finding a substitute... I've spent hours, unsuccessfully on line, trying to find the supplier of this temp sensor. I couldn't even find a raw thermistor. Thinking if I did, the original sensor could be rebuilt. Maybe EBR can supply this part. |

HVAC companies use resistors and thermistor type resistors frequently. Try check with them and explain the resistance of the thermistor needed. possibly drill out the old sensor and go from there. Thats where I'm at right now. "The ETS is a thermistor that varies resistance nonlinearly with temperature. The resistance ranges from approx 0 ohms at 300 deg C, 41.3k ohms at 25 deg C to 134k ohms at 0 deg C." -Sparky They should understand. Also I've heard the sensor is made by Bosch. I haven't had a chance to call Bosch directly and tell them the numbers of the sensor that I need. But also might be worth it. |

While I have been contemplating attempting to rebuild the old sensor myself, I would be careful. Someone mentioned that you could use a diff. resistor and trick the comp into thinking everything was ok temp wise. yes you could but I would think that the gas/air/oil mixtures in the motor are controlled/influenced by the temp. of the engine. with that said, if the proper thermistor isn't used, you could run into performance issues. just a thought |
