After the "last ride" event(that our group of "Johny Detail" members coordinated), Some Elves invited our 'lil group to this event. We have declined because we DO respect their privacy. Even though very many of those elves are close personal friends of ours.
Leaving a card is in no way intrusive IMHO.

Steve_mackay, I think you are way off mark on the intentions of my posts. My original post was about the first "opening" post by Slaughter who I'm sure had the best intentions and meant well.
There are 3 links there. One for a restaurant, one for a restaurant feedback site and one for the chamber of commerce to have the owner of the restaurant contact you. Not to mention their phone number. I didn't think it was appropriate for who knows how many people, from a Buell enthusiasts site, to start contacting a restaurant because people from Buell were having lunch there.
That is all my first post was about. I made a comment in that post about "Erik and his employees". Before I had a chance to edit it, Rocketsprink jumped in and corrected that with a little attitude (I could only assume by the capital letters). He then followed it with another post about leaving a card not being intrusive and I agree with that. I can only assume by his comments in that post that he feels a get together at a restaurant can't be private (maybe he is only speaking of a Buell get together) and I don't agree with that. I've attended many company get togethers at restaurants and they weren't open to the public. We also didn't want phone calls or message relayed to us through the restaurant from customers.
I'm sure Rocketsprink is very detailed and great at planning events. My "johnny detail" comment was made because I think he knew what I meant and was just picking at my comments. I shouldn't have made it and apologize for that.
If people were invited to the event, that's great. If the invite was declined due to respect of privacy, that's great too.
My original post was meant out of respect also. Respect for people to not call a restaurant and relay messages at lunch time or to send messages through the chamber of commerce to have an owner contact you back.
If the owner of a restaurant wants that, then great. State that in the post.
Again, I never stated that leaving a card was intrusive and if you think that you are off mark. I think that is a great thing and I'm sure it will be appreciated. If the "good bye" lunch is not private or you know people invited others, that's fine with me. If the restaurant welcomes phone calls at lunch to relay messages or messages sent through numerous web sites, that's fine also. But, none of that was stated in the original post, that I was posting about.
Go back and look at the original post. To me it says, here is where the lunch is, I'm going to call at noon, here are 2 links to the restaurant, 1 to the chamber of commerce and the restaurants phone number. You may want to contact them because people from Buell will be there for lunch. That's how it reads to me.
My intentions were out of respect for a restaurant and company privacy. That's all. It wasn't about a card or well wishes.
If it's possible, please put my name on the list too. Life these last 10 years would have been much less enjoyable without my Buells. Friends good times and adventures way too numerous to list. Thanks for the trip folks, it ain't over yet.

To the Employees of BMC, I would like to say thanks. Thanks not only for the bikes but, for the interaction in person and through email. Thanks for the culmination of talent and the concern for the people that ride your products.
No other manufacture of motorcycles instills the level of enthusiasm Buell’s do. To quote a very wise man and friend of mine "The bikes get you, the people are what keeps you."
It is been a long road and not without bumps from time to time. I must say that my loyalty to Buell waned somewhat with the 12 recalls that accompanied my first Buell (1997 S1) but every year the product improved, the accolades kept coming and the races were won.
Although I am a tuber guy the quality and dependability of my XBs and 1125 is nothing short of outstanding.
BMC has a simple recipe for success that many do not practice; Hire the best and use them to their potential!
From meeting people that work at BMC I can see that every employee is talented and a critical member. It is unfortunate that these are hard economic time and I wish God Speed to all the employees and hope that the future brings you much happiness. As you all know, you have many friends on this web site and others. When you interview for that next career you can proudly say you worked at Buell and I have a feeling that will carry a lot of weight with other companies.
Kim, you are the glue that kept Buell together, thank you for all your support. I will never forget the final stages of coordinating the S2 Rally and getting an email from you while I was in the parking lot of BMC.
Kenny, thanks for instilling Buell enthusiasm in my better half.
I would like to offer my thanks to the employees of Buell, the little American motorcycle company who made the sport bikes that put a smile on my face every time I hit the twisties.
My 96 S1 has always impressed me as a symbol of art, the embodiment of an American muscle car on two wheels. Practical too - the fact that I've racked up over 95,000 miles on it is a testament of its durability. I rode it from California to visit the Buell factory during Harley's 95th Celebration. The wife and I rode double on it from the Milwaukee airport and met some of you fine folks then.
Also thanks for building the 1125 series bikes. These machines are the state-of-the-art for Buell MC and the foundation for its future.
Thanks to Erik for having a vision of creating an American motorcycle to take on the world and making it happen.
I sincerely hope that things work out well for all the Buell employees.

At the Last Ride I had a chance to meet a bunch of Elves, and everyone of them took pride in what they did. I was equally impressed with their enthusiasm towards Buell Motorcycles, the Buell Motorcycle company and the projects they were working on and the future products they were privy to.
What a great example I saw, there are very few companys out there that operate like that.
Erik, Kim, Henry, Jon, and all the Elves - thank you, not only for incredible motorcycles (the only brand in our garage for the last 2 or 3 years now), but for your amazing business and production model. You guys and gals share a common passion, and it shows not only in the final product, but in the way they are created and brought to market in record time.
It doesn't hurt that every single person at BMC that we've had the pleasure of meeting, is a genuinely wonderful human being. You just don't see that in today's world, and it says something for the people, and the company, that all these folks ended up together. For a reason.
Good people, good bikes, good times. Kim and I wish all of you the best - and we have no doubt given the amount of talent that's concentrated under that roof, that each and every one of you will be able to write your own ticket wherever you choose to go for the next chapter in your lives.
