I use a ratty old Dell C-640. It was given to me. A clean install of XP, and it works great. Flea-bay around $50 if you watch long enough.

Yes you can.
I made a cable with a charger so I can put the palm in my tank bag that way I can log and ride with no limits.

I've got a laptop that is WAY too big for the tank bag. I just bungee it to the seat behind me. I power it from a cheap power converter that I toss in the tank bag. Works great!

Do you have to scrap your current set up just because you want to go MAC for your normal computing?

It's too bad Gunther didn't make a linux-based version.
My EEE would be perfect for this application.

yes and no... my computer has been getting repaired under warranty since early August and the store manager wants to just get it cashed out under warranty. meaning I SHOULD get my full retail back on it. but knowing my luck it probably wont happen and I'll need to sell this one to help fund a MAC.
