the subject throws you off, but im asking about special/custom bolts to replace some that are on my bike.. kinda like how your lug nut & key work on you car tires. i am wanting to convert my bodywork torx screws so that they can only be removed by a key.. where should i look to find this? |

There are several types of "security" fasteners available. Security torx, for example. |

These companies are all full of them selves. I have yet to see a security screw that I can't wedge some sort of flat blade screwdriver into the opening and remove. Unless the head is unlocked so that it spins freely until the special key is inserted, you will always be able to remove the screw if you no longer care about the tool or the screw. |

Stuff like that is there to slow you down, not stop you completely. A cordless drill or a dremel with a wheel will kill anything, given time. I love the pentagons by the way! |

Those are some hellacious "bodywork" bolts. (Message edited by jayvee on December 09, 2009) |

Ochoa0042, have you seen body pieces stolen off a bike in your area? or do you suspect YOU will be targeted? what are you going for with this? i'd think that a bike would sooner moved to a remote location and disassembled, rather than in place. because these bolts will only slow down the process after the bike has been removed from peering eyes, perhaps you should invest in a heavy duty chain/lock? i like my xena rotor lock. very loud. it is a good addition to my lo-jack with 'early warning' http://www.xenasecurity.com/home/current/lock/ |

+1 Nillaice No screw or bolt can stop an easy out kit. Drill through the head, knock the easy out bit into the head and back the screw/bolt out. No screw/bolt is "secure". |

oh no, its that im getting a lo-jack type thing and want to put it in the bike and make it so that it will be harder to get to the GPS IF stolen, giving me more time to find it.. first thing for a robber is to check for this, and harder to get off bolts makes it all the more effective |
