Hello everybody (it's not Dr Nick!) I have just gotten my butt into gear and am in the process of starting a new business. I am offering everything flowers (this is all my own work), but there will soon be a good range of unique toys (no, not that kind of toy), chocolates and lingerie. The more people that check out the site, the higher it goes on search engines and such, so take a quick look for me please? What do you think of it? Any tips/suggestions appreciated, but please keep in mind that it is a work in progress... http://www.vampressaflora.vpweb.com.au thanks-V |

The URL wasn't a give away that shes not from around these parts? Looks great, my personal advice is to redo this, don't compress it as much, it looks like the compression took a toll on the quality of the it, lots of smearing around and near the flowers and text.

Nice site! When composing your text, think of how others will see your site in the months, years to come - there's one part that sounds good for this jumping-off point, where you describe the motivation that started this adventure, but may not sound as if you are a "solid, been around reliably and wildly successfully for a good long time" kind of outfit. Web sites can evolve, so you can have a debut web site and then update it, but you may never get there (since you will be so busy selling the goods!!!), so be sure to project an image that will sell people on your service. How about a glimpse of the hinted-at, more adventurous arrangement ideas? The conventional ones are good, but be sure to go after what you want to do most as a florist. As an architect, if I only show people minor kitchen re-modelings, then guess what I'll end up doing a lot of: yep, more kitchens. But if I market myself with my most interesting, exciting work, then I have a better chance to do more of that in the future. Great work, and go for it! |

Aw, why not that kind of toys...? Hehehe been there, done that. Thought I'd go with something more openly socially acceptable this time. Thanks guys. I will be tweaking things a bit until it's just right, then keeping it up to date from time time. since you will be so busy selling the goods!!! I sure hope so. The problem with offering something different, is getting people to accept that different is good. Too many people just stick with what is tried and true even these days. The best thing is that when I start something I don't give up...just ask Chili!! I am determined to make this successful. Amen. |

so far looks pretty good vamp. you mention chocolates and toys but we don't see any. what are your intentions for those. some florists are getting into fruit baskets also which look pretty cool. what about chocolate covered fruit. specialties for weddings kind of thing. |

Nice work Vampy. I think it looks great. Only suggestion would be to include your area of service... I think naming the locales might help a little... not sure if you want to add pricing on not? Good Luck with your new business! |

Vampress... That is a great home page photo. I live in an area that has sheltered the vampire persona for decades... "Lost Boys" was filmed here, we have a "Vampires" motorcycle club, etc. ... that pix as a poster would probably finance your efforts for quite a while. Best of luck to ya |

Thanks Neverenuf, I am still in the process of getting stock and photographing inventory (figuring out what I want to keep)and arranging suppliers for the gift lines. Ultimately there will be three picture slide sections of some sort and the stills will probably be gone. Fruit baskets can be good and bad. Perishables aside from the flowers are a pain in the butt, but other hampers such as goodies and alcohol are not out of the question. Both of those require licensing for health and safety purposes and legal age requirements respectively. For now I am focusing on the sex appeal side of it with the lingerie etc, but who knows where it will end up in the long run when it takes off. |

but who knows where it will end up in the long run when it takes off. That's the ticket. Present yourself as a "can do," "yes, of course we can do that for you" kind of place. Become the go-to girl for all things floral and related!!! |

the fruit thing would only be special occasions because of just that reason. start out small on it then build it up from there. be creative and don't be afraid to be different. had i acted on different idea's in the past, i wouldn't be working now. |

What do you think of it? Any tips/suggestions appreciated, but please keep in mind that it is a work in progress... i think it looks GREAT, but you need to add some prices to the "standard" stuff. my wife uses the net all the time, to search prices and availability...but has bought very little online. find out where it's at, and how much they want for it. repeat, repeat, repeat. at some point, price and location merge, and she heads out to make the purchase. good luck w/ your new venture...or do those in the floral biz say: "break a stem" ? |

Thanks again guys and gals. Pricing is actually next on my list (just the basics for reference). I am adding to stock this week, so will have more items up too. Thanks Reg-I have a thing for the vampire image. Some of my older and more conservative critics have voted against the idea, but in the end...it is my business and my idea. I can choose who to market to and my service and forthcoming good reputation might win the rest over anyway. Thanks puff-I am trying to get as many perspectives as possible, so that helps. Knowing how other people shop is a good start. Thanks Char-I will add areas of service, but was trying to decide whether that would somehow limit my customer base, by putting a restriction on distance. I guess I can only deliver the world...not TO the world! Thanks Fahren-I'm really determined and staying positive. In the process of sorting priorities for 'things to do'. The year ahead seems so much closer than it did a few weeks ago! Thanks again Neverenuf-Being creative is what it's all about |

Vampress, I'm with you and Reg on the Vampire thing. Always intriguing and mystical. I like the slice of art... maybe music too? Do you ship overseas? :-) Best of luck! JB2 |

Vamp, looks great! I wish you were here. A guy can only buy the same flowers so many times before it gets boring and I'm sure the girls have gotten A dozen red roses from A guy or two before. As far as Some of my older and more conservative critics have voted against the idea Do you want to be just another florist or something new unique and different? } |

Thanks Daveswan, that looks awesome. Just the right thing. Might have to branch out later...hhmm so many ideas. I have to keep focused on what I am doing NOW...oooh look...squirrel! Have made a few changes to site. Nothing technical, but added detail for now. Jb2, have to get fully set up, but if I do start shipping overseas I'll be sure to let y'all know |

Thanks for all the hits guys! I am now officially 'google-able'. I have added some more stuff (toys, lingerie)to the site, and will be adding more in the next few days. I can ship overseas, but atm only by direct deposit or paypal. No fresh flowers, but I have the ability to work out inventive ways to compensate for those apparently. Looking into other avenues of getting logo branded chocolates etc. I am so looking forward to next year for so many reasons. Homecoming, new business and my awesome husband has been extremely supportive of it all (and no, not just because he got the new Buell either!) Thanks again-V |
