If you were to interview Erik Buell what would be your question to him? Be realistic and serious. |

Would you please start building street bikes as soon as your non-compete has expired? |

Why, when turning convention on its head nearly everywhere else, stick with conventional telescopic forks and their shortcomings? |

Would you go back into building street bikes if you could get your patents and wrights to use free of charge? would you consider getting a torquey Air cooled NON HD twin built for the XB chassis as a dropin ( thinking another Rotax) |

They are all on the same theme.... Next on CityXSlicker Exclusive... The Rooster. Did any survive? Where are they? Did they end up in a dumpster? Do any of them still run? Can I ride it through the field? Will you take a 'gently used' XB in on trade?... Would you could you race em against Roland Sands and the Yamaha? And more drivel about the non apparent 450cc that we never met. Some kids had ritalin, I had dirt bikes. |

I think some/most/all? of the patents are starting to become irrelevant or expired or whatever it is they do when other company's start to blatantly copy and get away with it. (Message edited by delta_one on December 07, 2009) |

There is a LOT I'd ask Erik. 1) What is your business plan for ERB? How will you generate profit selling race only motorcycles and parts? 2) Did BMC have aspirations to race on the World level, and does EBR plan to petition any sanctioning bodies to allow the 1125 to race despite it not being a homologated bike? 3) If EBR reaches profitability, will you consider producing street versions of your race motorcycles. 4) While you are focusing on the Rotax V-Twin powered 1125, would you consider building and supporting other brands of bikes and outfitting them for racing? |

You look tired...how are you? Along those lines, I've often wondered if Erik is even interested in building up another street bike company at this point. He worked is ass off for 26 years - maybe he's just tired and burned out and ERB is a "retirement" job for him - maybe a little slower pace, something he enjoys more. That's the kind of stuff I'd ask about. |

Why, when turning convention on its head nearly everywhere else, stick with conventional telescopic forks and their shortcomings? I've seen him answer that in an interview. I wish I could find the link for you. The gist of the answer was that no one was really interested in building it for him, particularly since the current system works well and is inexpensive. |

If EBR reaches profitability, will you consider producing street versions of your race motorcycles. That would be my question to Erik. I'd love to see new Buells running the streets... |

Who were the rat bastards at HD, that pushed to have Buell closed? Why was HD so resistant to allowing Buell to flourish? Was Buell perceived as a threat rather than a tool to attract more/younger/different riders? |

I think I would ask Erik what kind of beer he wanted and is there anything that I could do to help EBR out. |

>>>>ERB is a "retirement" job for him - maybe a little slower pace Uhhhhh . . . . that's not going to happen. This is a guy who, less than a month ago, was offered more than I'll ever dream of making to sit down and shut up for the next 18 months . . . I mean like enough to buy 4 Enzos and . . . his response was "take this job and shove it". When this story gets written . . . you're gonna love it. There is no "slow down" on his horizon. He's batching it this week and I suspect working around the clock.

So many questions I'd ask, preferably over a relaxing beverage with some decent music in the background... they'd probably include... What's your favourite model tuber? Why? What are your favourite bikes not made by Buell (new or old)? Why? I read somewhere in an article (Fuell) that Buell seemed to have worked out how to calculate the agility and stability of a motorcycle design. How are agility and stability related? You seem to mainly play Stratocasters. What's your favourite guitar? Favourite amp? Do you EVER slow down? |

I'd like to know about his guitar side- who his favorite guitarists are, what guitars and amps does he have in his collection. I actually already asked about his guitars once in an on-line chat session about the Uly but he declined to answer because his wife was watching! |

>>>>I'd ask him, where the !#$% do you get all the energy! That's the same question I'd ask . . . . >>>The really great leaders are monomaniacs on a mission. That's about what I'd expect the answer to look like. He's absolutely driven and focused but doesn't loose his sense of the folks around him or his family. i'be never seen anyone keep all the plates in the air at the same time with such grace. I **may** be able to answer the amps and guitar questions but I'm sure he'd rather . . . you get him started talking guitars . . . bring a lunch . . . he'll go all night! P.S. - If his wife is watching I know for a fact he owns 2 guitars and an amplifier.

I actually got to ask my question at the NJ races this last year. What kind of snowmobile do you ride and why? His answer was Ski-Doo. He went on to tell me that BPR is a lot like Buell. Then use many of their components for multiple purposes and have employed some of the same Trilogy of Tech principles in the design of their sleds. I still ride a Polaris and now with the addition of an 1125r I wont be buying a Ski-Doo any time soon but I sure do want to ride one now! |
