However, based on last season's experience, I would not be surprised if DMG does allow the 1190 Buell into ASBK. Sez 185rwhp is European spec NOT ASBK Rocket |

I don't know what you mean by "race spec". If you are talking about a professionally prepared superbike class racing engine, then if they are selling it to the public, then hardly close. I'd agree. So are you suggesting EBR's soon to be 1190 Euro spec race bike is going to be a professionally prepared superbike class racing engine coz if not 185rwhp seems awfully optimistic. No factory has EVER sold their factory Superbike racing engines to the general public in anything close to actual racing tune/form. Thus the RC8R is not such a thing, but I'd wager it will be in R form closer to EBR's race engine than a professionally prepared superbike class racing engine thus further suggesting 185rwhp is very optimistic. So you are calling Erik Buell a liar. What an arrogant, rude, jackass! Look Blake the facts are, this would not be the first time Erik Buell has spoken optimistically about his products. Why you have to throw insults at me for questioning the validity of less than a handful of words and the promise of a soon to be released picture of a 185rwhp Euro racer at the end of the month on EBR's website is pretty hypocritical of you when you tell me to take that sort of talk off BadWeB. What I am doing is asking where and why this almost surreptitiously published figure is down there at the bottom of EBR's new website as if it's not really that important. And said to be Euro spec too, almost makes it sound excusable when you guys don't get this bike OR that power for your homies versions - or will it indeed be available US spec too. I smell a rat. Any sport bike that can approach anywhere near 200 MPH on a road racing circuit is likely putting down well over 200 RWHP. Rubbish. See MCN here http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/News/newsresults /videos/2009/December/dec0709-video-ducati-desmose dici-rr-special/?WT.dcsvid=SilverpopMailing&WT.mc_ id=MCN%20Newsletter%2008dec09%20(1) Listen to what Michael Neeves reports for their latest video of a highly speced Desmosedici putting down 203rwhp when all other Desmosedici's MCN have seen are putting down between 150 and 160rwhp. No sportsbike is putting 200rwhp down unless it's in full blown SBK race trim - period. If teams can get 125+ RWHP out of Supersport spec 600cc IL4 engine, why is it so difficult to accept 185 RWHP in a Superbike spec 1200cc V-twin? Just factor by rev limit and displacement... Which is why I asked towards the validity of EBR's statement promising 185rwhp. EBR (Buell past) don't have a WSBK spec history. Why should they now have a future given their 4 man effort in a rented space in a shed in a field? Have you seen for example Honda UK racing H/Q? I doubt EBR will be anything like what Honda have at Louth, and even they've struggled this season. Rocket |

Rocket, you are determined to be the eternal Buell pessimist, aye? I've always maintained criticism is a great motivator. Can't blame me if they don't listen! Rocket |

Sez 185rwhp is European spec NOT ASBK Yes, but maybe they plan to race it in Poland or Estonia or Latvia in the near future (not WSBK), and perhaps ask the DMG to allow it into ASBK?} |

Seems clearer than ever now. So you are calling Erik Buell a liar. What an arrogant, rude, jackass! "So are you suggesting EBR's soon to be 1190 Euro spec race bike is going to be a professionally prepared superbike class racing engine..." What the #!@$ else would he be producing? These are for racing machines. Damn you are daft sometimes. Blake (accidentally posted using "admin" id) (Message edited by blake on December 09, 2009) |

I think everyone will be pleased. Those not wanting the EBR are free to purchase the brand of their choice. Many do so. It will be prepared by a staff of top level racing development and engine building folks. This is the first time Erik Buell has been free of Harley-Davidson constraints. I can't wait to see the results. Again . . spend you money as you see fit. Buell will be the one place that the club racer can buy the same product as the wealthy racer. Kinda neat in a way . . . I'm all over challenging baseless facts but the fact of the matter is most the naysayers are the same names who were touting the "Buell will never be able to run in American Sport Bike" less than 6 months ago. There are some days I wondering if I am keeping some folks away from their Optimist Club meeting. |

"Yosh will be LEASING their Superbike engines to the racing public for $1400 per weekend." Very cool! Good on 'em! Will they will be the exact same package including electrics as their own engines? Things are looking up in AMA Pro Racing. |

Things are looking up in AMA Pro Racing. Except, there is now no money to be won in Superbike. How many private guys are gonna try and run a class if they can't win some money? I am picturing superbiek fields with no more than ten bikes. If DMG wants to kill the class why don't they just say so and be done with it. |

Dave, I don't think that DMG is interested in privateers as much as factory independent, fully sponsored teams. I do tend to agree with you though, the reduced purse will certainly not be attracting more participation in ASBK. Will be interesting to see how Daytona shapes up. |

Privateers MUST get money from their sponsors and NOT from the purses. Being on the PODIUM has never done more than barely paid fees and consumables and the like. It has ALWAYS been the race team's sponsor's support direct support that made it happen - and not any purse or contingency money. |
