Seeing as how I am on my third Triumph,I like their thoughts. Just as fun as my Buells and you don't see them on every street corner. |

Well it could be seen as a marketing ploy, but then again so what. at least Triumph have said something. i have in the past looked a Triumphs, but thats all i did. i wasnt keen on the styling of older models, but the last few years with the Street/Speed Triple and looking good. i have got more interested. i just with they would bring out a 675 with a half fairing on like my old yamaha 600 fazer had. would be a good commuter/ tourer. |

I agree with Greg_e. Of course it's a marketing ploy but it was done with a touch of grace. That's nice for a change. |

In addition to my Buells I have a 2007 Bonneville. I love the bike. No problems, Smooth, Sounds good, Starts and runs like a Honda, comfortable, and a real joy to ride. A very loyal fan group like the buell folks |

Do they build an air-cooled model? Funny thing is that I was looking at the Speed Triple back in 1998 at Lone Star H-D/Buell/Triumph when the Buell seduced me. Do they build an air-cooled model? Might it per-chance employ carburetors? |

Their last air cooled Model is the Bonneville. It now has fuel injection, but they made it look like carbs. REX |

I've always love Triumphs. Now I like them even better. Might have to pick up a Tiger at some point. |

Rode a SpeedTriple a couple of times before I decided on the M2, the biggest swing factor was the M2 fit me better and a lot of modifications that could be done to it make it mine. For example I could add the fairing and bags from another Buell model with out much or any fab. Second was the Buell is(was) made in the USA. The SpeedTriple will be the second on the list until I fill my quota of Buells, (Message edited by m2statz on December 03, 2009) |

Marketing ploy... to an extent. I doubt if Suzuki had suddenly gone belly up, they'd be saying quite the same thing. Buell and Triumph have a lot more in common. I certainly wouldn't hesitate to give them a looksie. ~SM |

There is the Bonnevilles, America, Scrambler, Thruxton, and Speedmaster. The '08 and prior air-cooled models are carbureted...'09 later are EFI with throttle bodies built out of the carb bodies. There's also the new 1600 Thunderbird...but that's a different animal altogether. Where have you guys been? I think the Street Triple is one of the best all rounders out there...and the Speed Triple, though feeling a bit old in the tooth, is a very entertaining motorcycle. |

I think some it was real. John Bloor caught a lot of crap when he brought Triumph back in the 90s and likely has some understanding and sympathy for Erik Buell. |

If we're talking Triumphs here, what would be the equivalent Triumph model to an XB12XT? I guess it would be the Tiger but I don't know squat about Triumphs. |

Rick, Don't forget about the Rocket III. that thing is a beast and in the same cruiser class as the Thunderbird and America. They also changed the shape of the tank (on Bonnies, Scramblers, and Thruxtons) when they went to FI. Kinda had to add a hump to the tank to make room (compared to the carb models). If anyone has an inclination toward getting a cruiser they would be doing themselves a favor by at least taking a look at the Rocket III. Edit: Zane, yea the Tiger would be the closest thing to the XT imo. (Message edited by sayitaintso on December 03, 2009) |

Smart marketing - I think they understand their customer base. I've been lusting after a Sprint ST for a couple years now... |

Yes it's marketing, but as HD's marketing is get rid of that POS and get A real bike, I'd rather get A Triumph. |

'95 Thunderbird. Ohlins, cartridge emulators, progressive springs, off-road pipes and some bling. |

I have always felt Triumph and Buell riders kindred spirits. I had forgotten what a classy motorcycle company looked like. |

I have never seen until now an all black Tbird the sports I have seen in red and yellow but all the classics I have seen were 2 tone that is cool. I think I still got a couple pair a trousers with the Triumph thigh or puck marks in em. Mine was like a gold and green the only thing I would have changed on that machine was the seat cool looking but it was a 2X4 for comfort |

I love my Daytona 675, and when I rode with a group of Triumph guys when I lived in FL, they were more than happy to let me ride the Buell every once in a while. It fills the void between the Uly and the KLX quite nicely, literally and figuratively:
