Thats a crime in any way you look at it. I'd be will to bet there were many many G.I.s there crying like a little kid that had their candy taken away. Hell, I'm almost crying just thinking about it. |

"We had two dogs and because the Americans are not allowed to have dogs on their bases, they shot them,” a Royal Marine said." They've GOT to be kidding, right? Bloody hell! ~SM |

Not to worry, if they bitch enough the US will spend a million dollars finding a way to get the beer replaced, and likely two million dollars replacing the dogs. But no one that was involved will get a cent. It is just the way we let our bureaucrats fix things, don't be concerned, common sense will not intervene. |

I'm really Sorry. We have some real killjoys running things in this country. Many of them hate the military, and impose insane restrictions on our fine troops. I'm sure that the dog killing was NOT the troops idea. I know that the laughter as the Beer was crushed was just a cover for the tears. Again, though I have no authority to do so, Please accept my apologies for this tragedy. |

Comment on the article...The Yanks as usual having no idea of hearts and minds. Although I have to work with them at officer level and there are a few good ones I really would rather have nothing to do with them on a personal level. Their ORs seem unable to think for themselves or to think outside the box. While I would generally agree with "unable to think for themselves", I hardly believe Americans are the only ones suffering from such an affliction. I look around the world and see stupidity, everywhere. |

we had a good supply of beer on board the uss lasalle(agf-3)when i was stationed over seas back during 77/78. they used it for an occasional beach party. even managed to find some sitting by it's lonesome next to the reefer. nothing like being on restriction and showing up for muster a tad drunk while your out at sea. i miss those days. |

Non Alcohol Coors Light. What is that military slang for water? |

To avoid conflict with the locals, Alcohol possession is not allowed on base. To avoid having a dog import rabies, dogs aren't allowed. Both sad. But it's the army, not a bank. You want a dog and a beer? get a job at a bank. |

"Their ORs seem unable to think for themselves or to think outside the box." Hell, I thought that was the whole point of a military? Do you honestly want your soldiers to sit down and have a debate about whether or not they should be following orders? ~SM (Message edited by Swordsman on December 04, 2009) |

Funny you should bring up that joke grumpy. First time I ever heard it was from a cafe owner in Prague. "Do you know the difference between American beer and having sex in a canoe?" "No, what?" "Nothing. They are both f*cking close to water." I laughed my head off! The only American beer I like is Yuengling and Sam Adams. The other "standard" beers are... well.... water! ~SM (Message edited by Swordsman on December 04, 2009) |

Well it appears that in a response to the beer crushing by Americans FIFA has decided that England will play the US in the opening round of the World Cup |

Yeah, England is going down, down the pub after we've wiped the floor with you. We're still getting non-stop action replays of Thierry Henri's hand here in France. The basic position is, if the French get knocked out early, that's no more than they deserve, & if they go all the way, the competition will be meaningless because they qualified by cheating. That's the French public view anyway, even my boss, who is a rabid football-aholic & season ticket holder, says so. |

The draw looks awesome this cup: Group A: South Africa, Mexico, Uruguay, France Group B: Argentina, Nigeria, Korea Republic, Greece Group C: England, USA, Algeria, Slovenia Group D: Germany, Australia, Serbia, Ghana, Group E: Netherlands, Denmark, Japan, Cameroon Group F: Italy, Paraguay, New Zealand, Slovakia Group G: Brazil, Korea DPR, Côte d'Ivoire, Portugal Group H: Spain, Switzerland, Honduras, Chile Keeping in mind this is going to be South Africa anything goes. I hope the ref's are on the level if ya know what I mean Keep in mind all US euro players will be there and hope England doesn't pull a Beckham and cost themselves a game and remember the US has nothing to lose against England as they are supposed to win after all your a European side My bet is a German South Africa final |
