And now that H-D has pulled the plug on flat track racing, what "Proud Tradition" are they going to attempt to use to sell the XR1200?

Sportsters Rule.
I do prefer the -04 models with the "trap door". Pretty much bullet proof transportation with gazillions of parts to make repairs, go faster, or handle better.
I'll take the vibrations instead of the extra heft and more complicated potential repairs. Oh, did I mention the carb?
I'm a Buell owner BECAUSE of the Harley Davidson engines.

I wonder how many folks, I know BadWeB is not a representative sample, have ever paid over $25,000 for a motorcycle?

25K???
For a motorcycle?
Are you kidding?
I paid $8500 for my Uly gently used (850 miles.) That is the most I've paid for a bike, to date.

>>have ever paid over $25,000 for a motorcycle?<<

I've never even paid that much for a car.

I like the previous gen of XL's better. Anytime you move forward with large compromises (more weight and a larger chassis)...I don't think it's advancement at all (I don't care that they vibrate less).

The engines do rule. To me the Evo XL plus geodesic tube frame equals the BEST BIKE EVER BUILT.

first off I have always loved sportsters. I was lusting for a xr1200 long before they came to the US. In the mean time I ran across a deal on a xb12R . When the xr came to the states I road my xb12 to the demo days and road the xr1200 and a 1125R . It was sad. The xr1200 did not even compare to either of the Buells .The "best Harley ever" would not even hold a candle to the Buell

Take 1 Evo late model XL883, a pair of Thunderstorm heads/pistons, a Yost CV-40 master kit w/SE air filter, and a good 2 into 1 exhaust and who needs a XR1200?
It may not hold a candle to my XB12R, but it sure has surprised many old fat guys on their CVO Winnebagos.
Did I mention that I like Sportsters?
I had just finished test riding the XR1200 at Daytona Bike Week when the demo guy and Willie G asked me how I liked it. I smiled and replied that if it had more power and weighed less it might be as much fun to ride as my Buell Cyclone. Wish I had a picture of their facial expressions.

Priceless.
