Bought a billet grille. Contemplating what to do with the grille shell. Leave it Chrome, paint it Black like the plastic trim, or body match to Red? Current look...
Black?
Red?

The black looks like sh!t. I'd do body color and think about spraying the bumper as well. |

I say Red and scuff the chrome up and paint that red too. I think I would buff the pinstripe off too while I was at it. I am a big fan of monochrome. All one color with small accents of another. Not a fan of chrome, go figure. |

I don't care for the black, even with your pin striping I don't know... the red looks sweet in my opinion, very sporty. -Mike |

I like the black, but that doesn't appear to be the popular choice so far |

If you paint the grille shell black, and your bumper is black, it's just going to look like you wrecked it and stuck on some pieces from a junkyard, billet or no. Go with the body color, and paint the bumper while you're at it. ~SM |

Paint it blue with white stars? Or why not paint the whole rig Plum Crazy, with a white stripe. |

Buy a five gallon bucket of Army Surplus O.D. Green paint and invite all your friends over for a painting party. Give them all a brush and turn them all loose. A friend of mine did that with his VW Microbus. It looked good afterwards; but you couldn't see it in the dark. |

"The Black looks like Sh.." I think the black works with white, mabe another color to, but only if you have cutouts and accents following that theme, not for all schemes but good on white, mabe yellow, mabe one other ? The painted looks like it could go with every scheme. Chrome? well for a stock look with more of it elsewhere.... The Black looks good enough, but you see how it is worked in with the hood scoop.... and if there were accents elswhere on the truck in the rear, like a roll-pan or something to follow the theme. It's a toss-up between black and color coordinated painted. You remember the Mopars of the 70's with the billboard on the sides in flat black, thats what I'm getting at, they were tastefully done and looked hot. ..............sorry about all the edits, not enough coffee yet, and fat feeling fingers, but hay....... I"ll have to find A pic of mine. I have an 05 red ram. I put on A bumper cover and painted everything red. Including grill shell. Also got the Black grill as I'm trying to get rid of all the chrome. Good luck! |
