I'm planning like heck to get to Homecoming 2010, and the more I think about it, the more I'm seeing a good oppurtunity to extend this trip to places where I've yet to visit. I'm thinking I could go anywhere within a 2-day ride from East Troy. I'm playing around with places like the Black Hills in South Dakota, Yellowstone National Park, etc. I'm open to other ideas. In addition, I'd like suggestions for good routes to get to where I'm going as well as a good route home to Upstate New York. Can anyone suggest anything? Better yet, can anyone offer up a couch a crash on? ![: )](http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/clipart/happy.gif) |

Venture north into the upper penninsula of Michigan. Beautiful up there, especially along lake superior. Then work your way south along lake Huron. Get across Ohio and take the back roads thru the allagheny Forrest in north Pa, and work your way back up into ny. |

I'd rather ride places where I've never been. I've been all over the southern half of Michigan (I know it's not the same as the UP), and ALL over PA. I think I'd like to try to get to the Black Hills, then maybe visit a friend in Topeka before heading home. Looking at maps of the area (specifically between WI and SD), everything looks very flat and very straight. I typically don't like riding on the interstate, but is there any reason not to? It seems all the other roads are just as straight and level as I-90 out that way. Conversly, can I make just as good of time not on the highway? |

Let me expand on that - places like the UP of Mich and the Dragon, while I've never been to, I can get to in two days from my house - I'd like to get to places which are more of a stretch since I won't have a jumping off point typically to get there. |

Well the further west you go, the lamer the roads get til you get to the Rockies, with the possible exception of the black hills that I'm not familiar with. If you've got a passport go up into Canada along the north shore of lake superior then further north into Canada. Or deal with the flat lands and go play in the Rockies, then venture home along more of a southern route along more fun roads thru the ozarks or something. |

i have a couch you can crash on, but i'm only an hour and a half (or so) west of E.Troy. and you might have to share with my wife's 70lb lap dog. |
