...flip flop supporters, those that crossed party lines to vote for him... I disagree, the cross over voters, and the people who made the last election such a win for the Dem's, the conservative ( who did not vote ) & middle of the road guys unhappy with the massive spending & economy in the Bush admin. are I think, already unhappy. ( there was NOT a mandate for Obama, there WAS a rejection of the status quo. Hope & change sounded good ) Most of them are not torqued at the Afghanistan surge. It's the leftist base, anti-war, pro welfare crowd that he risks alienating. I agree that many of those would vote for Obama in 2012 even against Che, or Jesus. ( many can't tell the difference if you swap them on a t-shirt ) But it's not just the 2012 election Obama is obviously worried about. By 2012, most of his base would have forgotten anything he did this year that displeased them, as long as he can deliver the socialist change they voted for. He has yet to get the Health socialization bill signed & done, the Cap & trade religious bill is in some difficulty because of the leaked e-mails on the climate con, and the unemployment #'s are still bad. He very much risks his solid majority in the 2010 congressional election. This happened to Bush & Clinton, when unpopular things were done. Or not done. Even the lefty loons can remember Obama as a warmonger if Afghanistan keeps having high casualties, and the strategy calls for more troops & more action to secure towns. Just like in Iraq, a surge probably also means a ( temporary ) surge in wounded & dead. They may still vote for Obama in 2012, but may be less motivated to vote for his minions in 2010. Without a clear majority, his changes can't happen. |

I wish that you would wise up and stop trying to diminish the very foundation of our great nation. I wish you would accept what is written in plain black and white in the Declaration of Independence and in our Constitution. I've wised up. I accept in plain black and white what is written in the Declaration of Independence and in our Constitution.
quote:Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;
You are free to exercise your religion and I and every other American, is free to exercise or not, our own religion. Our American government does not require it's citizens to exercise any particular religion or any religion at all. Your creator may have endowed you with certain inalienable rights but take away the Constitution and good luck securing those rights. You'd be all on your own. Crying won't help you and praying won't do you no good. |

As all eyes are different and all brains different as well. Therefore the interpretation of said light reflection is different in everyone. That's very true but if you don't interpret that light in the exact same way that Blake does you will be declared the enemy. Everyone must interpret the light exactly as Blake does. Why I don't know. I suspect that Blake is insecure in his beliefs and therefor can not tolerate any questioning of them. To feel threatened by others who see things differently (calling them "the enemy") even though they mean you no harm seems to me a sign of insecurity. I have my way of interpreting the light and I understand that not everyone interprets it the same way, but I don't feel threatened by that or consider those people the enemy. I think it makes things interesting. Well, that's my amateur attempt at psychology! |

I don't understand your raising an argument against a view that you seem to have conjured all on your own. No one here objected to the 1st amendment. It's good to learn that you recognize the true foundation of our nation and the constitution. You are not my enemy. I still despise you personally, but if you recognize the basis for our liberty, then you are not my enemy. When I designate as my enemy those who falsely characterize our nation's very foundation in such a way as to pose a very real and tangible threat to freedom in America, I am expressing heart felt conviction. There is zero insecurity in that. If I failed to communicate my view against such dangerous propaganda, I would be egregiously failing my duty as a patriotic freedom loving American. It is obvious to all who is the actor responding to fear and feeling threatened. "Seeing things differently" is the only prerequisite to becoming enemies that I know. What else do you imagine does so?

Without getting into all of the conspirators totus has hired and looked up to who are marxists or communists or those with ties to "dispaced combatant" organizations lets look at one policy being pushed. Cap and trade. You guys are telling us that you have no problem with a SELF IMPOSED tax or penalty for consuming energy all the while money for the average family is dwindling with high unemployment and fluctuating fuel costs as it is? What God Damn planet do you live on? So my point above is that you either want to hurt our country by signing cap and trade into law or you are a complete moron. With that said factor in the latest findings concerning climate change data. If you still support strategies like this you are the enemy to the American dream. Move to Venezuela, Cuba or some other crap hole where you can be told how and when to think. |

I might believe GOD gave us our rights through the constitution if the original intent of our forefathers wasn't to exclude women and african americans as a whole, oh and dare i say justify the genocide of 85% of the indigenous inhabitants of this continent... That may be your god but that is NOT MY GOD. I guess you will argue that didn't really happen... it is just a bunch of stories made up by liberal wing nuts... which i am sure you will label me as... You don't need to travel to another country to see the poverty that exists on most Indian Reservations or in the Deep South... to know equality is not an absolute but an ideal we all strive for. Ive never owned a slave. My grandfather is half Cherokee Indian and one of the greatest men Ive ever known personally. He raised 4 kids and worked 2 jobs to give his family the best he could. He did what he had to and never blamed his problems on others. He just took care of business. Thats part of what being an American is all about. Those are just the kind of men and women that were prevalent in that era though before the victimization lobby got so big and before the feminization of men was popularized. |

Some people live in the Potempkin village all the time, in their heads. So, when is some one with self loathing going to point out that George Washington was a traitor to the crown? pathetic. Some people like M Moore have a condition that makes them argue that they don't see black, no matter what message their eyes send their brain. It's not the color, it's a psychological condition. Some things are self evident. M Moore & his ilk insist that not only is it not self evident, it's dead wrong, and then uses the "self evident" thing to show that you are wrong about something else. |

This place reads like the minutes of the Republican National Committee's last Teabagger meeting more and more each day. Or, does the RNC no longer meet the Purity Test? No wonder that the death threats to our President are up over 400% since the time that Dubya was President. What is it about Buell/HD ownership that attracts such a right wing audience. That would be a good topic for a dissertation. |

Daily Kos had an open letter from "President Obama" to Michael Moore which was a pretty good response IMHO. http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2009/11/30/73136 /753 While I generally agree politically with Moore, he has an irritating habit of being superficial at the top of his lungs, and in this case is wrong on many fronts. |

Jimidan, you take pleasure in using a derogatory label to classify a group of people, don't you? Sad that you continue to make an utterly false statement though about death threats against POTUS. My question is did you get that bad information from CNN, DailyKos or Racism Review? "The threats right now ... is the same level as it has been for the previous two presidents at this point in their administrations," Sullivan said. Source: http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2009/12/03/politics/p oliticalhotsheet/entry5879268.shtml That would be Secret Service Director Mark Sullivan who testified in front of the House Homeland Security Committee recently. If you got it from Kos, you might want to ask them when they plan to correct their story. And in the future, you might want to actually check the facts before reporting projected nonsense. Just a thought. |

Jimidan, still waiting to hear your opinion on CFL's. I'm concerned that the AGW movement has pushed a technology that will have worse side effects than its savings give. I have a few of the early LED bulbs and they are not yet ready for the regular bulb replacement role, at reasonable cost, but getting there fast. Also concerned about the political problems from people like Moore. ( leftist antiwar rich people & their paid professional protesters ) Obama, in a successful effort to make himself the "not Bush" downplayed the importance of the Iraq front, and emphasized the dire need to "win" the Afghan front in the war. That's fine since the Surge that Bush approved ( and Obama rejected ) has done it's job, and as of the end of 2008, it's just a gradual wind down of U.S. combat involvement, and Obama can call it a win. The Media simply quit reporting on Iraq last year, since it wasn't an Issue in the campaign. Obama made Afghanistan the new important front. He was not wrong. He also is smart enough to ( to my surprise ) actually take the advice of the Generals he asked advice of. The selection was, (after a delay I'm not happy over) a surge and hold operation to recreate the success of Iraq. Obama Changed his mind on that policy. That too is laudable. It actually gives me HOPE that rationality will be applied to other decisions by Obama. My complaints are mostly in the psychology of the situation. Our enemies. By rejecting the word Victory, and applying b.s. euphemisms to this war, I think he does harm to his own cause, and America's. But, I also disliked the b.s. euphemisms used by the previous admin. Setting a date that the Taliban can win, just by taking a break & sending the children they brainwash in to die for them, while they wait in relative comfort in villa's in Pakistan, strikes me as fundamentally stupid. I understand that a set date for withdraw is a sop to the antiwar base, politically. And that's why I'm concerned that domestic politics and the scum like Moore will have a bad effect. I want Obama to succeed in making Afghanistan a ( fairly ) friendly place, and not a haven for terrorists. You GO sir! As to your teabagger comment, I quote my favorite robot. What is it about Buell/HD ownership that attracts such a right wing audience Buells are about function over form or substance over fluff. In my experience, conservatives tend to be cerebral while liberals give weight to their emotions without regard to facts. Furthermore, most liberals are content to keep smiling and aren't interested in the discover of truth even to their own detriment. |

That is the kind of juvenile commentary that the far left so enjoys and which only serves to further divide America. Please do continue dismissing the outrage of so many Americans against the ludicrously irresponsible tax and spend anti-freedom socialist agenda of the far left. "What is it about Buell/HD ownership that attracts such a right wing audience. That would be a good topic for a dissertation." Buell riders are for the most part mainstream America, we work hard and we play hard. A thoughtful person would be asking "why am I so out of the mainstream"? Neither popular culture, Hollywood, nor the mass media are representative of mainstream America; for the most part, save Fox News and the WSJ, they all lean left, some more than others. If you take your cues from the Daily Kos, MSNBC, and other hovels of far-left lies and propaganda, then obviously it's likely that you will suffer the delusion that you are the mainstream and everyone else is far right. Please either cease the juvenile insults--I personally think that you are better than that--or avoid posting here and stick to the moto-related, non-political threads. I feel there has been a backlash on this site toward those who repeat propaganda from various sources. A quick search of the web shows near identical language used by Democrat ( U.S. political party, not democratic vs. communist forms of government ) candidates & politicians & the professional liers of Saddam's Iraq, Russia's hardening dictatorship, Venezuela's communist dictator & Cuba's Castros. When the same statism ideology is used as a basis for Global Warming, anti-semitism, and anti American arguments, some people actually notice. Some of us no longer bother to be polite about calling b.s. on such propaganda. Take a now classic bit of propaganda first pushed by Saddam's minions & now taken as a mantra by many fools. "there never were WMD's in Iraq" When pictures of Kurds huddled dead in doorways with bloody froth coming from mouth & nostrils murdered in genocidal poison gas attacks are cited. Quote after quote from Dem. politicians, including Presidents, Presidential candidates, and Senators are given, showing the state of the intel as of 2002. Reports from troops of different countries linked showing the capture or detonation of poison gas shells. News reports of Yellow cake Uranium being shipped to Canada to be processed, taken from the stocks of Saddam, purchased from Nigeria with money from the corrupt "oil for food" program.... Propaganda filled people invariably resort to name calling and anger at their contradiction. How dare reality not conform to what Kieth Oberman told them? No way! How could the lie after lie after lie that NBC told them about the glaciers melting not be accurately reported! How??? Why should Al Gore ever have to respond to dissent from those who not only don't buy his carbon credits, but instead claim "he played on our fears"???? Feel for them Blake. They've drank the koolaid, and wonder why we refuse to be compliant consumers of Pravda. ( official truth ) ( though to be fair, Pravda newspapers in Russia warn the U.S. is going too socialist....ouch. ) |

Take a now classic bit of propaganda first pushed by Saddam's minions & now taken as a mantra by many fools. "there never were WMD's in Iraq" No one, not Saddam's minions or anyone else ever argued that "there were never WMDs in Iraq". Everyone knew that there were WMDs in Iraq at one time. That was never disputed. What was disputed was, were there WMDs in Iraq in late 2002, early 2003? The UN inspectors were in Iraq at that time and they were reporting that they were not finding any WMDs, yet we invaded anyway. That is a fact. Reports from troops of different countries linked showing the capture or detonation of poison gas shells The poison gas shells they found were old weapons lost in the desert from from the Iran-Iraq war. From the 1980s! These weapons were not much more dangerous than the fireworks any American citizen can buy in most states. This was the reason we had to invade Iraq? Really? News reports of Yellow cake Uranium being shipped to Canada to be processed, taken from the stocks of Saddam, purchased from Nigeria with money from the corrupt "oil for food" program. Umm, no. That yellowcake was not obtained from Nigeria, it was all in Iraq before 1991, the oil for food program did not begin until 1995. Oh, and yellowcake is not a WMD. Thanks for playing though! It was a good try! |

What was disputed was, were there WMDs in Iraq in late 2002, early 2003? The U.N. inspectors reported 10,000 tons of poison gas in Iraq before they left during the Clinton admin. No record of their disposal was given, as required under the cease fire treaty ( from Bush the Elders admin. ) No Iraqi explanation for the disappearance was given other than "we destroyed it". ... old weapons lost in the desert... Nope, brand new gas shells ( without gas ) found by the U.N. inspectors ( their existence was denied by Saddam... I saw on tv the inspectors peering into the empty shells ) Binary nerve gas shells that had been hidden in conventional stockpiles were used as IED's, mustard gas shells of uncertain, but not ancient age found by Polish troops, and a ( unconfirmed, since it's from a Congressman...who believes them? ) speech noting 500 shells found. ( I never really bought that last, since I would have put them on display on the Senate floor, pity Bush was so bad at P.R. ) Toss in the Mosad reports of convoys of wmd supplies going to Syria, later confirmed by the Russian General who ran the operation with civilian clad Spetnaz troops. Then by the attack on Jordan by said chemical precursors. Who told you the Uranium was that old? I must have missed that. please post a link. ( heck I could be wrong about the date on a pile of ore.... It is known only that Saddam did try to buy Uranium from Nigeria, as confirmed by what's her names husband. Who was that, the one outed by R. Armitage from State? The one in Vanity Fair? I forget. ) No one, not Saddam's minions or anyone else ever argued that "there were never WMDs in Iraq". Lots of people have. They are certified useful idiots. You may have missed out on that particular psychosis, congratulations. No one with a functioning brain would state "Saddam never had WMD's" but that propaganda mantra has been repeated time & again on tv & right here. Have we finally disposed of it NOW? |

Really? } Well...in 1992 I went with my Colonel(Pathologist attached to Walter Reed Institute of Research), I was his attache (aid) at the Pentagon, to northern Iraq to draw blood from displaced Kurds outside of Tikrit to study the effects of nerve gas that had been released on them at the end of Desert Storm when they had a failed uprising. He had them then, I wouldn't doubt he had them later. There were tons of UN inspectors on that trip as well as IAE people that went all different directions in convoy's of SUV's, we went or way and they went theirs, we stayed four days and then returned to Germany with the samples via air force transport. I didn't see any more of the inspector's before I left, but they were definitely looking for something. |

No record of their disposal was given, as required under the cease fire treaty ( from Bush the Elders admin. ) No Iraqi explanation for the disappearance was given other than "we destroyed it". Find the 10,000 tons of poison gas and you'll have an alternative to the Iraqi explanation. If you can't find it, then you have no choice but to accept the Iraqi explanation, or keep looking. Who told you the Uranium was that old? I must have missed that. please post a link. You've gotta be kidding me! It's on Snopes! Where do you get your news? From Fox? You might want to try to find a different news source so you won't be fed a steady stream of garbage. Snopes Here is a quote from the AP story that Snopes links to. I have noted the important text in bold.
quote:Israeli warplanes bombed a reactor project at the site in 1981. Later, U.N. inspectors documented and safeguarded the yellowcake, which had been stored in aging drums and containers since before the 1991 Gulf War. There was no evidence of any yellowcake dating from after 1991, the official said.
Link Yeah, it's MSNBC but it's an AP story. It's not from Keith or Rachel. It is known only that Saddam did try to buy Uranium from Nigeria, as confirmed by what's her names husband. Do not get me started on the uranium from Nigeria story! That is one of the most well documented lies of the Bush administration. I can easily post a detailed time line with links to indisputable documentation (I've already done it on BadWeb, so I won't bother doing it again). The story was not only not true, but the Bush administration knew it wasn't true at the time they were telling it! It is well documented that they had been told as early as October 2002 that the uranium from Nigeria story was a pile of BS. Yet, they continued to tell it as if it were gospel truth. It's really sad that nearly six years after it was proven to be false beyond any reasonable doubt some people still believe it was true. That's some pretty strong Koolaid! |

I like the different discussions because you are bound by where you are geographically to the opinions and discussions of those around you. This forum opens you up to a grand view of the WORLD. Americans, Canadian's, French, European, Asian, WHOEVER wants to join in. Those of you who have never had the opportunity to leave this country of ours and see what other parts of the world are like should like the perspective this place offers. Most are caught in a microcosm of life that rarely offers a larger view than "where is the work at this week?" I know; I grew up in Michigan in the 70's and 80's. NO work, period. That's why I spent the next 21 years of my life in the Army. Those 21 years offered me a perspective on life and more importantly, MY life, that I couldn't put a price on. All of you folks that feel you are suffering or entitled to something from the government have no clue. You don't know suffering. You don't know what going without is all about. How would you feel if you woke up EVERY morning and wondered how you were going to feed your kids today? What would you do when your kids CRY out in pain and hunger?? REALLY, what would you do???? You don't know because you are so far detached from that is as a reality that you can't fathom it. Use this forum as a minds-eye to maybe help you see how others have to live and how that effects their OPINION. Nothing I say is the law. It is mostly my opinion. I learn so much from other folks on it here it is crazy. Insights into other places and others' opinions. I, by no means, am the oldest or the wisest here but in the tons of places I've been throughout my life I would rather live here, The US of A, than any other place in the world. (Germany is a very close second). So, maybe quit being so short sighted about threads and their content and maybe READ them and ponder them instead of firing back instantly with a retort. Dwell on it for a little bit and think about things more than usual. This place is like the Magic School Bus (Google it if you are too young) of forums. Let it help you explore others feelings, thoughts, and emotions and then let those things help you grow as a human being. Quit being so SELF CENTERED, DAMN IT!!! |
