Hey everyone, so here's the scenario, I have a Joe Rocket Rasp Jacket and for the summer time i unzipped the Big Vents in the front for the summer, and i lost them. So now i NEED a cold weather jacket for winter, I live in AZ and it can get below 30 F, so i need a jacket to keep me warm, because i ride year-round.

Another problem, is that i can't spend much more than 200$, so any help at all, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Everyone
Jake

Also any suggestions or comments are welcome, THANKS!!!

I got a really good deal on a Teknic Stinger jacket last fall from one of the online wholesale places. Cost me $60 (retail was a bit over $200). Fantastic jacket for mild to cold weather. All those years I've used leather jackets and froze my butt off at 40 deg, and I was amazed the first time I wore this jacket and it was around 35 deg and I was actually comfortable. Best motorcycle jacket I've ever had. In fact, I bought a spare for the same price. I'm sure if you shopped around, you'd find the same jacket or one similar from another manufacturer for well under $200. Good luck in your search.

If you're really on a budget, here's a good trick- buy a good inexpensive cold weather non-riding coat big enough to go over your summer jacket. I'd imagine you could find something decent for $50 or less; certainly less than $200. Your summer jacket provides the armor/crash protection and your winter coat provides the warmth. An advantage of this setup is in spring and fall you can take the winter coat off if it gets warm and stuff it in a tank bag or tail bag.

I'm just up the road from you in Phoenix.
check newenough.com for closeout specials, also check motorcyclesuperstore.com for the same thing, closeout specials.
bound to be something that will work for less than $200
Also, you need to check out the Arizona thread in the storm fronts, come out and go for a ride!

I got my Tourmaster Transition brand new for $170 IIRC.

It's price average-high for a textile, but I have no complaints. Quality has proven to be great - no problems with any zippers, seams, etc after a little over 2 years of riding. The liner is removable, there are plenty of strategically placed pockets in both the jacket and the liner (so you don't lose storage when the temperature drops)

Tourmaster may have stopped producing the Transition cuz I've seen the transition II around a few places. Dunno what the differences are for sure..

Go to http://www.newenough.com/closeouts/textile_jackets _and_pants/

I'd recommend a FirstGear TPG Ranier jacket, it they still have any in your size. It's a $400.00 jacket on sale for $149.00. First Gear makes some damned good jackets.

I'm a big fan of NJK Leathers stuff:

www.njkleathers.com

Right now they have a deal going for buy a leather jacket get a textile free. Both would be good for cooler weather and you'd have choices as to what you will wear when.

Gerbing heated jacket liner . http://heatedclothingoutlet.com/jacketLiner.shtml
There is nothing better than making heat instead of trying to keep it in .

I along with three of my friends have one of these and they are a very good jacket but you may need to layer clothing for the really cold days. The reason for this is that it does not have a full liner (look at the pics). I like leather for protection and the price for this one is great. You may or may not like the styling but it is very difficult to beat for the price. BTW keep in mind every zipper is a place for cold air to get in even when closed.

"I got a big carhart that i can do that with."

That's exactly what I do and I ride all year long in Wisconsin when the roads are clear.

My Tourmaster Flex2 jacket arrived today. What little time I spent with it seems like a decent jacket. I'll spend some time with it and the pants on the bike tomorrow and know more. Cheap enough, and has water resistant cover, mesh, and thermal liner.

I also bought the Flex pants too.

If you are in the majority then the Cortech HRX stuff looks nice, but the pants would not fit me.

Snowmobile suits are way cheaper than riding suits and you can wear your summer armor underneath. Total cost can be less than 50 bucks

I couldn't agree more. I have the Transition 2 and am going into my second season with it and for the price (sub $200) it works great. Really though, for me it's a 3 season jacket because of the removeable liner. I have mesh that I wear for the hot months but in the begining of Nov I switch to the Transition 2 and wear it through April. I like the full length b/c it helps keep the wind off the legs a little.
I also have a Joe Rocket that I hardly wear b/c the Transition is just better in every way. It's much more adjustable to allow it to be snug and not "flap in the wind", its warmer, it looks better (imo), and there is more armor.

I dont think you can go wrong with the Transition 2.

Best cold weather jacket you can buy is a Belstaff (now, British Motorcycle Gear) Discovery. Paul, from BMG, was blowing these out. Here's some links
http://www.britishmotorcyclegear.com/discovery-jac ket.asp

http://www.webbikeworld.com/r4/british-motorcycle- gear/bmg-discovery-jacket/

And, here's the link for the deals. At that price, this is a steal, and, you really won't find anything better for sub-50F weather. Buy a Discovery, and, end your search for a cold weather jacket.

http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49 5348

If none of the available sizes fit, start looking for one. They don't come up for sale very often, because, they are so good. Really. They are the best.
