The owner of a local Honda/Suzuki dealership had an auction and sold one of his private collections of motorcycles. There was ~240 bikes in all from the 40's to the 80's. Pretty cool collection of bikes, 90% of them were in mint/showroom condition.

Well I ended up buying a 1983 Honda CR 60R. I'm not sure what I want to do with it. This thing is pretty mint and doesn't look like it has been ridden much.

1) Sell it to see if I can make a profit.

2) Store it in my attic and forget about it.

3) Ride the piss out of it and treat it like a regular bike.

The CR 60R was a fun bike that scared me as a 10 year old. Now 25 years later I have one again, what to do?

Here are some pictures:

That'd be the perfect size for CityXslicker.

do they make a luggage kit for that?

Sneek into a Shriners' parade on it and do one handed wave wheelies around the little cars....

Bettencourt's in Bridgewater had the auction. I paid way too much for it ($800) but it's such a cool little bike from my past.

I bought a running beat up 1983 CR60 from a co-worker a couple of years ago for $300.00. I ended up deciding that it was to much of a clunker for restoration and parted it out on Ebay. I made $1100.00 and still have a couple pieces left. They, as you know are rare and hard to find parts for...i would have a hard time parting with this one.

Here's a pick of my restored 78' Honda XR75 with period DG acessories....displayed in my living room. ; )

What a gem. Remove/seal fuel/oils & bring indoors to look at & ride nostalgic virtual motos.
It's small; make minor mods & mount on wall; right side out.

That is a gorgeous bike.
Sell it to someone that's sure they want to preserve it and use the proceeds to buy a bike your size that you can ride the piss out of.

At that price, you might just as well ride it, as it will never be worth a life altering amount of cash.
I say the mini supermoto sounds like a good way to hurt yourself...

That XR75 brings back many memories. I had a 1975 with a DG pipe, but my DG pipe didn't turn up that high.

Nice.

I think I'd squish it if I rode it. I'd either try to make a few dollars off of it or continue to keep it in pristine condition. Now, if it was big enough for me to ride without getting a wedgie, now that would be a different story.

My first bike was a little RM75 that was probably the most fun bike I've ever owned. But I think if I rode one today it would just scream "Get off me!!!"

I found a link of the bikes with some pictures. I am totally pissed that I didn't bring my camera with me.

I have to say that this was a VERY nice collection of motorcycles. My fav was a 1973 Laverda 750SF with 215 miles on it.

My buddy ended up getting an absolutely mint 1985 Honda 350X three wheeler.

http://www.jwoodandcompany.com/2009/2009_Bettencourt_pics_all/index.htm

Here's an almost complete list of the bikes that were there. There was ~240 bikes in all, mine was lot 217.

If you have kids let them ride what dad did. If not, make some and then let them ride what dad did.

My brother just fixed his old y-zinger. He's had it since he was 6. Now his son (7) and daughter (9) are getting the same kick out of riding it he did. It's funny to watch my nephew ride cause it's 1980 all over again. The little booger has already started eyeing my old bike.

I remember when Dick Bettenourt was a hot shoe at the Middleboro Scrambles. His son Johnnnie was a hot racer too.

Perceyco,
I have the same XR in my shed!
Still waiting for the complete restoration.
It runs but needs tires, chain and sprockets, paint, etc.
I haven't decided if I'm going to do a bare frame resto or not..

Neat little bike. I'm keeping my eye out for the stock exhaust..

Humm, I don't see a Kawasaki H1 or a ZX 11... I would say that he had a limited view of what was worth having.

But his taste was good enough to NOT to have a single HD V twin.

Oh and I'm for #2, don't forget the vacuum sealed, UV inhibiting bag.
