If HD rebranded the XB bikes as Harley Davidson's and continued manufacturing and some minimal development, would you stay with the XB's or go 1125? |

I think the only way H-D would do it would be a modern version of the FXR with a modified version of the XB motor in a crome moly frame. You know the way the new Sportster should have been built. |

I would stay with the XB but dealing with HD would be something I would have to think about. I have no use for the new engine. |

They won't and have said so in published statements. |

It would be technically Buell tech through out since Erik had a big hand in the FXR frame project. |

Probably won't, but it makes some sense to me anyway. I say that because I traded a 1200R Sportster for a Uly because the Uly corrected all the things I disliked about the Sportster, but kept the reliability and feel of the motor. I had been thinking either a BMW or a Uly. I think Uly owner's will agree the bike gets a lot of looks, and that means interest. To kill a bike with potential just because of a mismanaged economy does not make sense. Maybe I'm just envious of those who bought the 1125's and, as of yesterday's announcement, have a glimmer of hope that the bike they like has a future. I think we should continue to communicate with HD that we are not happy with the shutdown of Buell and would like to see the XB's continue to be available. |

Could HD use a lighter frame, less chrome, and make their bikes feel more like they were meant to turn? |

It would be technically Buell tech through out since Erik had a big hand in the FXR frame project. when i asked him about my fxrt, i'm pretty sure he said he had a good bit to do with that project. i could have misunderstood him. but none the less, it is reason enough not to ever sell the fxrt and get it restored one day. |

HD has already done a bike with (a lot of) the thunderstorm tech in it. Its called XR1200. Considering we can't *give* one away in our market...I doubt HD is gonna go and try to do another. *Especially* since they have publicly stated they won't rebadge Buell bikes as HDs. |

The XR1200 is quite removed from a Buell as far as function goes though. It still has an extra almost 200 lbs. I would love a Sportster to clock in under 500lbs that could turn and brake. |

I would love a Sportster to clock in under 500lbs that could turn and brake. It was called a "tuber" or steel frame buell.. |

Rat, they do sit quite a bit. At 11k hd can keep'em. When marked down significantly they moved at one dealer. |

I don't think HD will use any Buell tech in the frame. Maybe the air cooled motor parts. I think that they will position themselves away from Buell, and make everything HD. tech. REX |

These are all kick ass Harleys (and Harley engined motorcycles)
What do they all have in common? All are highly modified from the original or are built upon aftermarket and custom frames...point being that stock they leave MUCH to be desired. (Message edited by Rick_A on November 21, 2009) |

Yes these are what I'm talking about, but I'm afraid that Harley has forgotten they have a racing heritage. |

They haven't forgotten. I'm sure it is a bitter memory...at least as far as road racing goes. |

as much as I like Harley-Davidson (American) Motorcycles, I just can't see myself purchasing one because of what they did to the Buell Motorcycle Company. I wouldn't have ever made that statement prior to October 15th, 2009. As a matter of fact, I was really interested in getting a Road King. That won't happen now! I'll just continue to ride the BEST motorcycle ever made, a 2006 Buell XB12X Ulysses. |

but I'm afraid that Harley has forgotten they have a racing heritage. They may have forgotten for a little while, but if you recall at the end of the last AMA season, Erik ran through the HD board room and kicked them all in the nuts! Awww! poor HD. Rock on Erik Buell Racing! |
