1.2 Homologation of Motorcycles
a. Only motorcycles homologated by AMA Pro Racing may be used
in AMA Pro Racing-sanctioned road racing competition.
b. Homologation procedure information and applications are
available from the AMA Pro Racing office.
c. AMA Pro Racing will only review applications for homologation
from motorcycle manufacturers or their distributors.
d. Once a motorcycle has been approved, it may be used until such
time that the homologated motorcycle no longer complies with the
technical rules.

e. Compliance with homologation requirements will not guarantee
AMA Pro Racing approval. Homologation may be withheld or
withdrawn for any reason AMA Pro Racing deems is in the best
interest of competition.
f. A list of eligible motorcycle models for each racing class is
available from the AMA Pro Racing office.
g. Additional homologation requirements for each class are listed in
the associated class standards section. Each motorcycle will have
a Technical Information Form (henceforth known as TIF).

As long as the AMA considers it homologated, its homologated. There's no reason the 'race use only' 1125r bikes built by Erik Buell Racing couldn't be considered 2010 Buell 1125Rs with the VIN stamped over.

Do the (rumors?) that there won't be any 2010 Suzukis in the States mean that there won't be any GSXRs racing in any AMA pro series in 2010? Doubtfull.

Interestingly, it appears that the champ won't be on a Buell in '10

Great, Nik, but that won't work forever. At some point, the 1125 will become uncompetitive or it's mechanical makeup will change so much as to no longer resemble the homologated bike.

Considering HD is giving it's blessing to this endeavor by licensing the use of the 1125 and it appears EBR will be operating out of the current factory complex AND "veteran personal" are being kept on, I'm beginning to believe Buell Motorcycle company MIGHT be revived at some point in the future IF the economy improves.

Danny is signed with Zook to ride DSB. Depending upon how is contract reads he could possibly also race Buell in SB.

Dear Santa,

For Christmas this year, I'd like a few hundred independently franchised Buell dealers.

I've been a bad, bad, boy...but in a good way Santa.

Thanks,

Chad

A bit of speculation here...but Erik very likely signed a non-compete agreement with HD. Producing 'race only' bikes would not violate that agreement as Harley doesn't produce race bikes. Apparently, Erik was able to work this out with the approval of someone at HD. He is able to continue his R&D until any non-compete would expire, then he would be well positioned to return to streetbikes.

This is actually pretty good news. With Suzuki announcement, 2010 is looking to be a weak year for new model sales anyways.

Who says its for forever? My initial thoughts on reading the press release was that it might be a way to keep Erik and Company in the sportbike business without violating any kind of non-compete agreements with the Murdership. But this is all just speculation. I'm really excited to see what the future holds.

Buell started as a racing company. This is a return to their roots.

There is more to racing than the AMA and WSBK.

All in good time my friends....Erik has a plan.

Didn't Erik start off by building 50 bikes a year, in order for his bikes to qualify for AMA racing?
All he needs to do is build 50 street legal bikes for his new model to be AMA approved.
Or is this just wishful thinking?

“We’ve got some exciting race development projects in the works"

Since EBR has not yet started, is it fair to assume that Erik was able to keep some of his patents and IP???

I will be in the market for a chain drive swingarm for my 08 @ Bonneville. When will race parts become available??

We will be making our own up in April so if someone could let me know before then that would be great.

Odd fact, Dannys old team will not be producing 2010 motorcycle next year and Suzuki just announced that they won't be either. Best of luck to Danny, prayers too I guess.
