Had a thought. Thinking along the lines of the arguments in favor of national health care, I feel that there is another inequity that needs to be resolved.

I think it's incredibly unfair, and oppressive, that poor people do not have access to the same level of legal care as rich people. Statistics are pretty clear that the representation people of means get is far better than that of us hard-working middle class citizens.

So here's what I propose. Obama should take over the entire legal system, and enforce specific guidelines for billing. For example, a will shall cost no more than $150, simple lease, $75. Work done for a municipality shall not exceed $50 per resolution.

ALL criminal lawyers will be limited to the same salary structure as that of public defenders, thereby ensuring equity between the defense a "richy" gets and the defense a "normy" gets.

IF someone wants to hire a "cadallac" lawyer, they will be taxed at a significantly higher rate to be permitted, and that money will go to pay the public defenders, helping to spread the money around equally.

Seems the only salaries left that aren't being "capped" are the lawyers, and for whatever reason, even though the legal fees they charge can FAR exceed the doctor's fees, they are permitted to gouge people! How can this inequity exist in the land where we are all equal??

Think the administration will be on board?

you are never gonna get the twits in charge that are lawyers to vote for that one.
Notice how the legal side of the house is all shut up about HealthCare?

Its because it will be a boon to them to sue providers and states on patients behalf for 'denial' of care, treatment issues and contract legaleeze in the new landscape.

Proof? I just signed with a law firm in Seattle to be on their newly formed medical team.
It was a nice fat signing, and a bit o street cred to the small consulting biz I do. Its about to get as stupid as Stella Awards.

Yeah, I know it'll never happen. But that's only because there are more lawyers than doctors in congress.

The theory is the same. Inequity is inequity. People's lives are on the line when they're on trial as well.

If we're setting salary caps on executives, if we're deciding how much doctors are allowed to be paid for services, I think lawyers should be next on the chopping block, as it were. As in chopping their salaries.

That is EXACTLY what we need! MORE government regulations. PERFECT. EVERYTHING the government gets involved in is VASTLY BETTER than before the government was involved. I like when the government makes choices for me.

First the lawyers then the politicians
and with recent events in a family argument I'd have to say college professors are 3rd inline.
My reason, a father says to his son get A JOB stop making excuses for why your not working. All there is out there is 7 dollar an hour jobs. So get 2 you got nothing but time. This country sucks dad. WTF is your idea of a country that doesn't suck. A place were you go to college for free drive a car you didn't pay for have a big TV a laptop and every gaming system evermade. You eat for free sleep for free and even wipe your ass for free and have weekends off. Well sunny boy you have arrived and apperntly it sucks.Tell your professors I am gonna beat the shyt out of them cause I didn't teach you this crap.
I hate all politcal conversations anymore they get me sour

It only took me 2 lawyers and $10,000 to get my divorce on Tuesday! And I am still stuck paying half my income in alimony for the next ten years!

"I have a very special plan in the future for attorneys if this society happens to crumble..."

I filed a case with the attorney greivence board on the first lump of coal I hired. I thought I could control him and make him do what I wanted, but he just didn't get it. The second two were high priced hot shots that lost steam as they quickly burned through my $5,000 retainer.

They are just thieves, and you can quote ME on that.
Yes I am a little bitter, but I will never again assume that justice will prevail in any legal matter.

I hope the rest of you learn from my mistakes.

By the way...the Love of My Life happens to be an attorney....and I am silly happy being with her.(And you can quote me on that also)

prenupt, and get married by a sea captain in international waters. as it was not a us ceremony, US law does not apply. and if you are thinking of marrying a foreign mail order bride,... do it over there, and best benes if you dont come back to the US. You were warned.

Lawyers, the only thing I hate on par with terrorists.
