Court, An interesting question on one of those threads: Is Erik able to grant interviews? Is he able to publicly speak about the closing, or is he bound by a non-disclosure agreement? |

>>>Is Erik able to grant interviews? No . . . . At least he's not said a single word to me. I also have spoken to several journalists who report that HD media folks are uncharacteristically hush-hush and not returning calls . . . which is unusual. Telling. Means nothing but a few of the folks I have spoken to at HD, quite off the record, are of a mind that "there's some high level stuff going on and no one wants to become entangled". Most of them have read the press release and will, off the record, giggle at the folly of the logic.
- Buell wins AMA Championship that HD has been dying for for years.
- Buell poised to roll out new product seen as amazing, even by media skeptics, who have seen it.
- Buell headed for "more visible" racing
- HD announces new Buell World Headquarters
- Buell grows 55% - HD grows 9%
- Buell brings in new project under budget and ahead of schedule. Develops new project management system.
. . . . . . and 100 days later . . . . POOF . . . "Buell Be Gone" is sprayed on the lens and Buell is pronounced dead as HD sullies off in pursuit of their "core business". Try to make the pieces of that puzzle fit together . . . . someone's not being honest. |

Forget the pieces to the puzzle, I can't even tell what the picture on the box is supposed to be. |

It really does seem like after court laid that all out it would have been more predictable a move to possibly rebrand Buell as Harley davidson, to jump on the bandwagon of sorts. That way HD could have had their name on the good things that were happening and coming down the pike. The more I think about what they did I get less angry and more confused as to the logic used to come to this decision. It makes my brain hurt, which while being rather small it causes only a little discomfort, It still bothers me when it hurts. |

BTW- as an interesting side-note, a post by a moderator on the Cycle World 1125RR thread indicates the photographer requested his photo be pulled from my original post in the thread. That photo must be linked on hundreds of sites by now. |

I think rebranding Buells as HD's would have the chrome and leather crowd in an uproar. Remember the "Not a Real Harley" & "Honda Davidson" comments when the Vrod was introduced. Not to mention the issues with the dealer network would have remained. |

LOL, Hugh, why am I not surprised you started a whole thread on this? Man, Cycleworld was murdering my computer last night. My bandwidth started dropping dramatically around 10:30 for some unknown reason, and that site was taking FOREVER to load any time I clicked something. ~SM |
