alright guys (and girls) I just earned my eagle scout rank in boy scouts (which i'm very proud of!!!) and during my court of honor, the scout usually gets letters of congratulations from big names such as the president and other top congress officials, some famous people if you bother writing to them telling them about your achievment, and other such people, i thought it would be the coolest thing ever to get a letter from erik buell if he'd even bother writing me one, yet i have no idea on how to contact him, or whom to send a letter regarding asking erik to write me a letter, do any of you guys have any ideas on how i should go about contacting him, or whoever?....any help would be greatly appriciated!!! |

My first thought at the moment is Facebook seeing as his office address in East Troy may be a little iffy at the moment. |

It would be very cool letter to receive. Being an Eagle Scout is a great accomplishment. I have to ask, how old are you? If you are going to write him, I would suggest more periods and less comma's. Use some capital letters for his name also. I am no writing expert and those things grabbed my attention right away. Hope you get your letter. |

Congratulations Ian! You have joined a pretty exclusive group. I wish I'd have known about Buell when I earned my Eagle Scout rank. If you do get a letter, please be sure to post it here! |

I can't speak for Erik, but I'm betting that he would be more than happy to write you a letter. Just ask him. He's on Facebook nearly every day. |

Good job Ian, that's no small feat and takes years of dedication. You can address it directly to Erik. Letters to the Elves are cool too, I'm sure they would also like hearing from you. After seeing many thank you letters posted on a white board in the cafeteria I know even a printer paper photo of you will go great with a letter and will go up there for the good folks to read about how you've been positively impacted by Buell. For written correspondence. Buell Motorcycle Company 2799 Buell Drive East Troy, WI 53120 Factory is supposed to be open through Dec 18. |

Ian, First of all, congratulations on achieving Eagle Scout! You should be very proud indeed! And, as has been said, I am sure Erik would be happy to write a letter on your behalf. |

alright guys thanks a bunch for the feed back, i'm 17 years old till dec 13th. I know i'm cutting it close seeing as you cant earn eagle once you turn 18! I've had my bike licence since i was 16, i dont have a buell yet, but am working on it, i really want to get an xb9 either lightning or firebolt. Since i've got the license i've been on a honda transalp 600 v-twin, not a great bike, but none the less its a bike. i've prolly got about 15k miles under my belt. As far as my project, i live down the street from a state park with a lot of mnt bike trails, and some of them are really eroded away and washed out, so i did 200ft of trail restoration |

Iman501, Sounds like you are off to a great start in life. Nothing wrong with a Honda Transalp. I got my bike license at 17 and my first road legal bike was a Honda XL500. I have to say it spent as much time off road as on. I beat it pretty hard. Congrats again. |

Congrats! Receiving a letter from someone who is the epitome of the qualities of an Eagle Scout, such as Mr. Buell, would be fantastic! Loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, cheerful, brave, etc ... you couldn't pick anyone finer. Best of luck in the future as you are joining an elite group. s/ Doug C. (Eagle Scout, 1985) Ps- I still have my letter from President Reagan. |

thanks a ton!!!!!! that'd help a bunch!!!! if it also may help my email adress is iman501@yahoo.com Receiving a letter from someone who is the epitome of the qualities of an Eagle Scout, such as Mr. Buell, would be fantastic! Loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, cheerful, brave, etc ... you couldn't pick anyone finer. thats what i figured, he was determined from the start, even with all the crap he got from many different people over the years. Determination was the biggest factor in my advancement to eagle over the years. now that i've gotten eagle, i got to focus my dertermination onto a new topic (like buying myself an xb!) i did go and test ride an 09 xb9sx a few weeks ago at walter bro's harley davidson in illinois, and am certain a buell is the bike i want!!! |

Ian- When I took over as Scoutmaster of a troop I researched all the previous troop's Eagles. Then I suggested as each scout reached his Eagle that he ask one to give a talk at his Court of Honor. The first one turned out to be a federal judge and gave a whale of a speech. I wouldn't discount Transalps to this guy:
He was riding his from Rio DeJanero up into Canada then over to New York and down to Florida. |

ha ha ha i'm not necisarely saying its a bad bike, its just not necisarely a great one, mines a 1989, its fun for a first bike, i've had a blast on it, and no accidents or upsets over the past 15k miles i have under me (knock on wood), but after riding a couple different bikes, i feel like a little more power, and modern day tech would be nice to have! |

Congratulations on reaching Eagle Scout! As a Scoutmaster and father of a scout, I can relate to all the hard work it takes to get there. Keep Scouting and riding, and combine the two whenever you get the chance! |

alright guys, i know some of you said you'd want to read the letter if i got one back, well i did!!!, it was an awsome letter!, it was very nice and well written!, but here it is rik Buell said... November 23, 2009 Ian Dean (my adress which is personal info) Dear Ian, Congratulations on your achieving the Eagle Scout award. I know you will soon be attending the Court of Honor ceremony, and it is indeed an achievment worth honoring. Only very few young men in this country ever achieve this level of distinction, and you will be in great company at that time. The list of Eagle Scouts who have gone on to achieve great things in their adult lives is an auspicious one to be sure. Learning how to lead, to persevere through adversity, and to be willing to work for discovery give Eagle Scouts many of the tools needed by those who wish to make the world better. As you know, it takes courage to tackle new challenges, to work equally and fairly with teammates, to get back up from each defeat, and to recognze that each success is only a step on the path of life. There willl be more challenges through your life, but i am sure you are one of those who will persevere through all life's adversities to build a path of honesty, hard work, and hope that will shine for those following you. Best wishes, (his signiture) Erik Buell (any spelling problems or other such things are probably just me messing up while typing) |
