Gee wonder what kind of "penalty" Buell will get assessed this coming year for winning the championship over HD. Last year HD got 4 valves per cylinder and Buell wasn't allowed, plus the extra weight the Buells have to carry. Maybe this coming year HD will tell NHRA that no one can run Buell bodywork since they are no more....and of they can't run the bodywork, they can't run the engine??? |

Hector is a great guy.. met him a few times! I asked Erik a few weeks ago what will happen to the Buell's in NHRA, he said he didn't know.. I'm guessing Suzuki has been parting since the announcement.. Now Kaw can get back in the game too.. It sucks! |

If precedent has anything to do with it they should be able to run for a few years. Several Pro Stock teams ran Oldsmobiles after GM pulled the plug on Olds for a year or two. |

Thats cool, I didn't even know Buell had a Prostock bike. Is this anything like pro drag cars though, all have basically the same motor with different bodywork? |

2 weeks ago when the NHRA National event was in Vegas, I asked as many of the pro stock bike Buell riders I could find, if they would be on Buells next year, and all said they would as long as they had sponsorship. As long as the bike is 1998 or newer they can continue to run their S & S powered xb9R Buells. To be clear none of the those who ride the Buells receive any sponsorship or support from Buell or Harley Davidson. In fact, just the opposite. When Matt Smith, who won the 2007 championship on a Buell, tried to develop the 1125R as a pro-stock bike he initially received approval from NHRA UNTIL Harley, who is the "Official Motorcycle" of the NHRA put an end to his efforts and any chance the Buells would have to compete with the Harley Screamin' Eagles and even Su-suck-is in the future. http://www.competitionplus.com/index.php?option=co m_content&task=view&id=8628&Itemid=24 |

It is great that Hector won the championship...he is a great guy and has spent YEARS working towards that end...dedication, attention to details and a fantastic tuning program brought the win...even better that it was on a "Buell" As a side note, it has been brought up before that the "Buells" in NHRA are not Buells....They are as much "BUELL" as the Harley is a "V-ROD"...The 160ci S&S motor in the Buell is a serious purpose built race engine...other than it is a V-Twin and runs on gasoline...sadly it shares virtually nothing with a production Buell engine. The V-Rod engines in ProStock are not Harley engines either...I don't know who designed the new 4 valve heads...but I bet it wasn't Harley...and I'll bet it wasn't an in house Vance And Hines project either...(I could be wrong...it has been a while since I have had my finger on that pulse)...Would you freak if it was an Italian design??? (pure conjecture to stir it up ) Maybe the heads speak German If nothing else, I plan on being at the GatorNationals and will be visiting with some of my old friends in the PS pits in March |

cool thing is, the record books will ALWAYS list the championship winning bike as a BUELL (again) FTF |
