I believe Court referred to that by name in another thread: The Buell Barracuda. The question we should be asking is how does Court know what it is, yet that's all he's telling? After all, if Buell is no more, then why the need for secrets. Unless...... What's very interesting about that bike is, is it a much modified 1125 well disguised, or is it really an all new model. If it is the latter then that bike is way past the development pre production hack stage looking at that pic. Is that a data-logger I see on top of the bars? Oh yes. And as superbikes go, I like the minimalist approach a lot, and it's sharp and distinctive in a very Buell way from the fairing back. Single race seat and rid of the pillion pegs and brackets......a nice Buell monoposta? Rocket |

Yes, Barracuda, 1125 based but new from front to back. And that was a steering damper on top of the bars. And it's gone, not to return. That bike is probably in the dumpster now. |

Unbelievable!!! No wonder Erik was so giddy at Blackhawk Farms during the Red Flag Auction. He told a guy who was sitting behind me, "I wish I could tell you about the NEW bikes!" After overhearing that, I knew something great was on the way! |

The more I stare at that picture, the more pissed I become. Please HD pull your shit out of the ditch in time to bring back Buell. I don't even care if it has Harley on the tank as long as you give me THAT! In yellow please! |

I'm not a sportbiker rider, I like standards, but I would buy that. The lines, the shapes, everything is beautiful. H-D almost had its American sportbike, but jumped the gun and pulled the plug. I can't describe the abject feeling of disappointment. I now know how my mom felt when she found out that I ... nevermind. Here's hoping something like it will show up in the next few years. |

Now it is even more incomprehensible why HD Inc. would throw all that money and R&D that Buell did in the dumpster, figuratively and literally. I sure hope Erik can come back with a bike as good or better than that one. |

Do people still put things like that in a dumpster? Me thinks it'll be stashed somewhere safe for now, perhaps one day turning up in a motorcycle hall of fame - what could have been. I'm thinking who would have the rights, make that authority, to say put that in the skip. Such a decision comes down to a person, as opposed to persons, so who is to say it went in the bin? The person tasked with putting it in one, or the person tasked with asking someone to put it in the bin? If I were in that chain somewhere, I'd break it and wheel it somewhere secret really quickly. And that's where it surely must be now. Secretly stashed, unless of course it still remains in the official loop of whatever procedures are in continuance at Buell/HD at the mo. Rocket |

more and more this just reinforces to me that H-D reasons for shutting down Buell were NOT money related. H-D thought they'd get us Buell riders to transition from a Buell to a road going, overweight, underpowered, chromed out sofa. After realizing that it wasn't going to happen that way, the 'brains" of the operation couldn't see past that fact. They couldn't see the fact that they could actually compete in a totally separate market. They couldn't differentiate between 2 different styles of bikes. They couldn't see past the fact that, although Buell would never achieve the world wide name that H-D has, that they could become more "in the lime light" for what they're doing as opposed to H-D same shit, different day approach to bikes. I am secure in my opinion that this was a jealousy, vendetta driven decision by short sighted management. I belief the proof is H-D's recommitted mentality to cater to their "Core Group" of riders, which they haven't figured out are dying off in droves. H-D may have signed their own death warrant. What's old is new again doesn't work anymore. Step out of the stone age H-D. |

I don't think H-D was trying to get us Buell riders to their bikes. I think they saw the Nightster and Harley Dark bikes like the Crossbones appealing to a younger age group without realizing there is a totally different group with different "head" that rides standards and sportbikes. Either that, or they decided to focus on their core cruiser market and dump the sportbike segment completely, cutting their quest for market share and looking for stability. Or maybe they just don't have a clue. |

don't think for a minute that they weren't seeing Buell as a "stepping stone" to their bikes. How, please tell me, do you find stability in a market were the core group of riders are literally dying off? Were most people can't afford a 25K pig? H-D building factory trikes now? There's a huge market for ya! Credit lines very tight, and where once anyone with a pulse could get a loan to purchase the "American Dream" of owning a H-D, I now see them chained to light poles outside banks and credit unions with the new owners (the financial institutions) now trying to sell them. Again, this is just my opinion, so whether you agree or not in inconsequential. I think H-D has lost sight of reality and it WILL come back and bite them in the @ss. And they deserve it. The problem with that is all the people, such as the Buell employeee and dealers that have to let people go, are the ones that really suffer. When I picked up my new Buell after all this shit went down, the salesman I dealt with said they hadn't sold bikes at that pace in well over a year. I was at the dealership for about 3 hours, and there wasn't ONE person in there looking at a Harley. NOT ONE. But don't worry. The upper management at H-D will continue to get paid their over inflated salaries. |

s The CEO said a bright spot will be sales in emerging markets such as India and China, where newly wealthy riders are looking for bigger, better bikes. Harley recently announced plans to start selling motorcycles in India in 2010. The company already assembles motorcycles in Brazil for that country, as a way to avoid steep import tariffs. But Harley doesn't intend to manufacture motorcycles in other countries and export them to the U.S., according to Wandell. "We are proud of our made-in-America heritage," he said. It's difficult to say whether a Sportster, Softail or Fat Boy made in India or China would have the same cachet as a bike made in the U.S. There ya have it. Right from the horses @ss.....er ah..mouth. |
