Where there is a me, there is a way. So. . . is there a time frame that you guys are going to wait untill you share with the rest of us what we have missed out on? Will we ever be allowed to see what could have been? |

I spent a good 6 months designing & machining the tooling, and that is the 1st picture of the bike I had seen. |

Seriously, if that bike is ever in jeapordy, we need civil disobedience to protect it. I'll chain myself to a doorway somewhere... |

What does this imply about Harley's ownership of the Helicon? “The engineering team should be happy with what we have accomplished because none of these innovations are insignificant,” Buell says. “What’s most amazing is that we self-funded this engine without Harley’s help.” from http://www.autofieldguide.com/articles/100702.html} |

Buell owns Helicon. Unfortunately HDI owns Buell. Therefore... |

Clarify 'owns'? If Helicon is designed and manufactured by Rotax, funded entirely by Buell to Buells design, then Buell not HD has the contract with Rotax - Buell a separate entity merely owned by HD does not give HD permissions over Buell does it? I mean, other than bankrolling Buell, HD had no involvement in Helicon. In any case, surely when contracts agreements papers signed monies paid, Rotax would surely be dealing exclusively with Buell and would build in provisions that Buell and not HD had any involvement with the project. In other words, if Buell funded it in the manner it seems to be implied, I can't imagine if Buell owed money to Rotax, that Rotax could go directly to HD and say "PAY THIS BILL". Rocket |

Correct me if I'm wrong, and I don't doubt the likelihood of being wrong or corrected here... While surely nobody here has all of the specifics entailed in the motor deal that was worked out between Rotax and Buell/HD/HD Holdings/Tu Madre, I would seriously be surprised if Rotax didn't and does not currently have a voice in this. While much if not most of the design lies in the specifications laid out before them by and collaboration with BMC, I would imagine that they will reap much of the fruits of this labor and will seek out Erik should any light harken through the clouds, and then at that point not just with the current lump, but with others beyond the 1125. I'm still quite curious about a Can-Am 'Cuda by Buell... |

Wasn't part of the $125 million spent to close Buell..........spent to pay off the Rotax contract? |

Has it been paid yet, and if so what's not to stop a future Buell using that engine building contract if firmly back in the hands of Rotax to put more money in Rotax's purse? Are Rotax gonna say no? Aside from a 15 month Erik Buell no compete agreement - nothing? Rocket |

"Wasn't part of the $125 million spent to close Buell..........spent to pay off the Rotax contract?" I assume so. In the 10-Q report it states the $125m includes "...approximately $32 million of other costs including payments the Company expects to make to fulfill contractual obligations." Rocket - Good point, but (playing devil's advocate) could the opposite be true? Could H-D have a contract that prevents Rotax selling *that* engine to anyone else? Steve - With the work you did for BMC, if you can talk about it, who did you receive purchase order/contract from, BMC or H-D? Who did you invoice and receive payment from? I ask because I'm curious about the "too integrated" thing, and the Rotax/Helicon contract (though it may have been different to other contracts due to the $$$ involved). It always got me that Buell had a separate part numbering system too. |

We are/were a 2nd tier supplier. Not directly billing Buell/HD. We billed the custom molder. |

BRP lists the 1125 on their engine site, so I'd think it's safe to assume it's not proprietary. http://www.rotax.com/en/Engine/2004/Motorcycle/Eng ine.Models.htm |

And do you know how much it kills and enthusiast to keep his mouth shut about something like the B2? I've know details about it since March/April, when we started to quote tooling. I was working pretty heavily on it during Homecoming. Working 12+ hour days to get a REALLY hairy tool designed. I often teased people at Homecoming with my ipod, which I use to transport the 3D files I'm working on from home and work. "You would *KILL* to see what's on here" |

I hope a lot of this hits the press in a good light! Showing what was on the horizon with Buell and an American Sport Bike. wouldn't it be cool to have all three hayden brothers riding the new Buell in a race, and finishing 1,2, and 3 in the World Superbike Races. Just a dream. Americans on American made bikes. REX
