Interesting quote from the article "It's a pity the first new-age Beemer Six is going to be a tourer - because this sporty concept is an absolute stunner. Looking like a marriage between the K1200R and a Buell Cyclone, the Concept 6 is a techno-masterpiece of design." |

Buell Cyclone...huh??...I don't see it. |

The Cyclone reference must be more aimed at the 'character' of the bike...'cause it sure ain't the styling! |

As a Cyclone owner I don't see it either, but I sure would like to ride it. Torque = happiness! |

Personally, that looks like a bike designed by H.R. Giger. Still, I'm wondering what a BMW equivalent of Kawasaki's original Voyager would look like... |

I don't see anything Cyclone about that, and I don't know what a 45 degree (or what looks to be, anyways) fork angle is doing on a "sport bike". |

As a Cyclone owner I take great offense to this comparison - |

and I thought Chris Bangle had been banished from the Bavarian woods. Apparently not. Not only is it a styling abomination [something Bangle knows a thing or 3 about], but the engineering is absolutely derivative, not to mention obsolete . Both Honda and Laverda did it decades ago. That the I6 configuration didn't survive in production is telling. As is that the current leading edge in Honda and Aprilia engine design is centered on V4's. |

Benelli beat Honda to the punch with an inline 6. The Benelli Sei (a "Sei" is a small species of whale, by the way). |

RFischer, not Laverda: BENELLI! Laverda only uses half that many cylinders. |

Yes, I stand corrected - Benelli. My Alzheimer's acting up again.. |

Sei is Italian for six. Sei whales acquired their name from the word seje, the Norwegian name for pollock, a close relative of codfish. |

If it wasn't as long as a bus it'd be pretty damn bad ass. These modernized relics look sportier

Look in Cycle World this month for a three bike comparo of inline 6's: Benelli, Honda and Kawasaki shaft drive. IIRC correctly Laverda had a V-6 for a year or two.

Whatever happened to that Italian bike with the V-8? Morbidelli (or something like that)? It was NOT the size of a Boss Hoss either. |

Laverda only ever built prototypes of the V6. Sixes make great bike engines I think, maybe not inline for a sportbike though. I still remember my first ride on a Kwaka Z13. It still defines smooth for me, and that was solid mounted and no balance shafts. I don't mind the look of that concept bike, that could maybe be a future K1500R... The front end looks raked out because it's the duo-lever(?) front end, not telescopic forks. A 60° V6 sportsbike, say 750cc, would be waaaaaay cool... imagine the exhaust note |

Honda had an old racer inline 6 RC119 or RC121 I think a little 250cc or 125cc back in the sixties. The names may not be correct but the bike did exist. |

The 250-6 was the 3RC164(1964), RC165(1965) and RC166(1966). There was also the RC148 and RC149 5-cylinder 125's and the RC173 which was a 297cc six for racing in the 350 class. |
