Time to renew my motorcycle insurance with Progressive. I find that my rates have more than doubled. I don't have tickets "good driver", I don't have claims, I still have the same multiple bikes insured, so I called. Turns out my 2007 Buell XB12R has been rated a "51" now instead of the previous "39". Due to "a large increase of claims for that model." The agent suggested I drop the comprehensive so that my bill will be close to what I paid last year. Has anyone else noticed this trend |

A friend just went through that going from a Ducati Monster S2R to a Triumph Daytona 675 on Progressive. Not quite your situation, but it sure took my friend by surprise. |

Two words: American Family Progressive has been ripping me off for a while. Since my car insurance is with USAA they do not provide motorcycle insurance. Progressive works with USAA to get their customers the "best" rate. BS! I called my local AMFAM agent and the rates are 75% cheaper. Buh bye Progressive... |

Try adding a 09 1125CR and an 08 1125R within months of rear-ending a car. I would be happy if my insurance was only doubled. Paying $3500 a year with Progressive full coverage. |

they tried that with me. told me it's because i moved into the hood (not the exact language). so i went to geico and got to pay the minimum ( $99/year or something like that). |

hex, i have multiple bike discounts on the older bikes but when i called about the scg, my insurance through mra that goes through dairyland was going to jump up to around 1100 for the year. went and called statefarm back up cause they still have the house and cars and they quoted 466 a year each for the scg and the same for the firebolt. mra told me they go by weight where as statefarm goes by engine size. progressive wants me to put the cars with them to get multiple bike discounts and that would have been over twice as much. i'd start shopping around again if i were you. |

I know some of you won't appreciate my post, but I renewed my progressive policy on my Multistrada a few months ago. It got cheaper. $381 a year for full coverage. High liability coverages (not the minimums) and $250 deductibles + towing. |

That’s weird I have bin with progressive for 2 years now and when I went to renew this summer (I pay for the full year at once) it was cut in half from last year. I also have a 07 12r. I was just thinking of moving my truck over to them as well to see if I could get a better rate guess I will just hold off on that one. I wonder y the clams would have gone up that much? |

I got away from USAA years ago for the bikes. Still have home, flood, and car with 'em...but bikes are thru HD insurance, with Dairyland. My '09 CR is $380 a year, full boat. My Uly is $300ish a year. The tubers I carry minimum coverage on (mainly just on me; the bike is a wash). I think together the three (hers and mine) total $100 a year. |

Two words: American Family Not in Cali. I'm wondering if Buell closing had anything to do with the rate hike. I guess I'll be calling around for others' quotes. I'll let you know if I find a trend.... |

800-832-4449, HD insurance. Let them shop you around - they work with five or six (or more) companies. |

Full coverage, 2008 1125r. I'm 30, single, no accidents and one ticket in my life 11 years ago. $348.00 from geico. Plus remember that geico money is what made Danny Eslick on the rmr Buell happen this year. Support those who support us. |

I have been with Erie for 20+ years and have not had an issue...I too have an XB12R and have filed a claim on it this year for some jackass backing into to me...I would not trust Progressive farther than I could throw them...Their full coverage sucks ass...I have tried to shop for cheaper rates and only State Farm got close to what I am paying threw Erie for full coverage and they were still off by almost $200 a year, Progressive was one of the highest for full coverage when I did rate checks with companies...But then again Erie only insures motorcycles to current customers who have the cars insured also. Hell I'm even a General Electric employee and their insurance can't even beat Erie for me. (Message edited by paw on November 13, 2009) |

"Plus remember that geico money is what made Danny Eslick on the rmr Buell happen this year. Support those who support us." This is true but I will not pay over $200 more to switch. |

I had the same thing happen to me in winter of 2006. I was buying the XB9SX and the insurance rate doubled and they were not honoring the MSF instructor discount. I went to another company. A year later the prices dropped and the instructor discount was honored again |
