Really its not that funny. They've been using them in literature for years. (Message edited by Buellinachinashop on November 09, 2009) |

Here's a link to the image of the plaque. Ask Char for the full size hi-res, I'm sure she won't mind. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/406 2/508362.html?1256676591 |

I always thought they were thought up by Buell too, but from one book I found they originally came from an H-D management leadership group in around 1987. Can anybody confirm? |

Don't get me wrong, no matter who made up these values, they're the core of Buell's relationship with its customers. Buell held these values true alot more than HD does. |

+1 what china said. I'd be proud to work in a company that *believed* in values like that. I've never met anyone from H-D or Buell, but from what I've read, the H-D of the mid eighties with Beals and Teerlink was trying to have the kind of company culture that Buell always had. Somewhere along the line (late '90's, early '00's?) H-D's culture went backwards as they went after huge sales numbers, IMHO. |

>>>>Don't get me wrong, no matter who made up these values, they're the core of Buell's relationship with its customers. Buell held these values true a lot more than HD does. Bingo . . . . . and major kudos to Harley-Davidson and Buell for adopting them. There has been some unrest regarding Harley-Davidson, certainly understandable, among the Buell crowd of late. I can't speak to when they adopted them, where they came from or how they adhered to them. Mike "Two Buells" is eminently qualified to address that point. I can tell you that in my personal experience, in years of dealing with Erik Buell and many Buell executives and Elves that as long as I adhered strictly to those values they never once failed to back me up. In one year, I gave about nearly $20,000 worth of Buell stuff. They've gone light years above and beyond where I can imagine any manufacturer ever giving a customer advocate latitude In that spirit I've always felt a strong commitment to adhere strictly to those values. It's just a darn good way of doing business. Many folks say it . . . and I'm not referring to Harley-Davidson here, but many large corporations who adopt "Mission Statements" that are more window dressing and lip service than a road map. I'll say that in my personal experience, Erik Buell, Jon Flickinger, Bruce Champion and a number of Elves elevated living by those values to new heights in my experience. The other, and while he's hanging around lately, I'll mention it, great lesson I had in motorcycling was writing for Reg Kittrelle. Reg and I didn't always see eye to eye but I could always count on him to be honest. I've always read his product reviews and comments on motorcycles differently after working with him. Agree with him or not . . . . I can assure you that what you read is exactly what he thinks. I keep a copy of the BUELL VALUES on my wall, regardless of their origin, right next to the B. C. Forbes quote "Nice People Always Are". Yeah . . . . I slip from time to time . . . |

Court, are you going to be able to keep on as the "customer advocate" and retain the title? |
