Roll-ups, for me. DRUM & ZigZag blue packet papers. One pouch of baccy lasts about a month. Unless I'm on a road trip or driving night shift. |

"i don't like to hear "rap" music when i eat out soo .... i don't eat WHERE they play "crap" music . how is smoking ANY differant ?" Maybe because hearing somebody's "rap" or "crap" music isn't a known cause of cancer? Second hand smoke can cause lung cancer among other things. It's not just about people who visit restaurants. It's also about people who work there and need a job to provide for their family, being forced to breath smoke filled air. People have to breathe to survive. Why should they have to breathe smoke filled air that can harm them. It's no different than any other work place etc... that is smoke free (most are). People go to work, mall, bank, grocery store, etc... and can't smoke. Why should a restaurant be any different? Bott, congrats again. Sorry things took a turn in this thread. Here's the statement to end this argument, unless you're a commie or something. If I own a business, weather it be a bar, restaurant, office building of some sort, why is it OK for the government to tell me what legal activities can take place there? This country was built on the free market system. If having a smoke free bar was so lucrative, bar owners would do it on their own, it wouldn't have to be legislated. That's how the free market works. Has anyone every seen a bar that was voluntarily smoke free? No, cuz it wouldn't last a week. There's no demand for it. When this was going on in Ohio a few years ago I remember all the people who said, in my best whiny-wussy voice "I'd go out to bars more if they weren't so smoky." Well, let me tell you, while I don't have exact figures, I can assure you that the bars around here are no busier, in fact it's just the opposite. There are less bars, doing less business. Smokers go out more. We know how to have a good time, live for today and aren't afraid of our shadows. IF the non-smokers did go out more after the laws passed, they quit soon after because they realized are the fun loving, life of the party smokers weren't there anymore. When that law passed in Ohio, my friends and I were in our early to mid 20's. At least ever couple weeks we'd get the group together and hit the bar scene. In the couple years since it passed, we've all gone out together no more than 5 times, and it's always been in the summer when we can be outside and smoke with our beverages. The restaurant argument is just as retarded. Many restaurants have gone smoke free on their own, which is their right. As a smoker, I never demanded that I be allowed to smoke at any non smoking restaurant. The owner of that place decided to go smoke free, and the free market dictated if it was smart or not for his business. And before someone says "what about the workers, they shouldn't have to work in that second hand smoke." I think Doug Stanhope said it best when he said if you've been waiting tables or been a bus boy long enough to get cancer from second hand smoke, you've been dead on the inside for a long time. If that's too offensive, quit your $2.50 an hr job and go across the street to the friendly's and wait tables. Of course you won't make as much money at that non-smoking restaurant, because smokers are better tippers. The point is, the government has no place in this matter. We all know the dangers of smoke, second had smoke I'm not so sure of, but whatever. If you like being in a smoke free place of business, patronize those businesses. If you really like "Moons Over My Hammy" from Denny's at 3AM but hate the smoke, pic up your pen and write them a letter telling them why you won't go there. Let the free market do it's job. Discuss. Never smoked. Mom's dad died of lung cancer awhile back, Dad's dad has some urinary cancer linked to smoking, and Dad's mom just got diagnosed with 2nd hand lung cancer last week. However, I've always LOOOOVED the smell of pipe smoke. If I was going to get into it, I'd have a pipe. I'm betting if you could grow your own, chances of cancer would drop dramatically. Those companies pump all kinds of toxic shit in there just to spike the addiction. ~SM |
