I picked up a '72 Kawasaki Enduro 100 from a friend of mine. The good is it has a clean rust free frame, good compresion on the motor. and the clutch and trans works. The bad, it needs an exhaust, seat and a carb. It didn't have a tank but I put a sportster tank on it and it looks cool with that. kinda like a flat track racer. So does anyone know any forums for old bikes like these and where I can get some parts? I really need a service manual. Thanks for the help. Here are some pics for reference.

I have a 1984 Yamaha XT 600. I bought a service manual on eBay from a library. As far as parts go you may be surprized at how much a regular Kawi dealer will be able to still get for you. (unlike HD dealers, I have found them to be fairly helpful) Also yo may want to check out www.advrider.com |

+1 On the Dealer, they can get it or usually know who can locally. Flea bay for the manuals and misc. |

Is that a G5 or a G4 ? (G4 was more street oriented with the "dual transmission" for 10 gear ratios). I had a 73 G5 (new in 73), and I recently purchased a 84 KE 100 (updated G5, engine serial #'s had G5 on it till the end in 2001) I like these bikes but in all honesty, this one looks pretty ratty, how much do you plan on spending on it to get "what" ?? |

I bet a lot of the more recent KE100 stuff would fit it fine. but yeah, check with a dealer first. |

No freakin' way! I just this week was handed a '72 Kawasaki enduro as well! Mine's an F250, but it did come with a user manual in great shape, which includes many technical details such as carb adjustments and fluid levels that would likely be about the same for your bike. Here's my new thumper, straight from the dumpster...
+500 on going to a dealer. The first streetable bike I rode was a '72 Yamaha LS100 and finding parts on ebay was a pain, however the dealer could get everything I needed within a week. I'd still like to get that one back someday. |

WOW I just picked up a 1974 Kawi F11 250. Only had it a week, got it from the original owner with all the original paper work. Has 6400mi on it. I`ll get some picks up soon. As far as parts try johnny`s Vintage Motorcycle. They have most of the hard to find parts, but they are pricey. S1Eric |

I have a "mystery carb" that was probably off of an old Honda enduro, probably 70's vintage. It's in bad shape, the enricher assembly is gone, and it's clearly old. That being said, the parts bike it came with *did* run, you just had to do a "manual choke thing" with the throttle. It's yours if you think you might be able to use it... just PM me a shipping address. Though in all honesty you can probably find something intact on ebay for $30 or so. I wouldn't be suprised if you can find the stock carb for that much, it was probably a pretty common part. It'll be a lot easier to dial in the right carb then a grafted on thing. (I posted pictures here somewhere asking for help identifying it... but I can't find them now) |

A two stroke is never to be referred to as a "thumper",.... Thumpers (GD*&$) are 4 strokes "Here's my new thumper, straight from the dumpster... " |

The KE "A" series should have many crossover parts from the G5, engine parts are the same. They moved from an iron cyl sleeve to a plated one "B" series" in the very early eighties, along with slightly larger overall bike dimensions. |

I believe it is a g4 with the 10 gears. I want to spend as little as possible. i just want to get it running and take it out in the woods. i have no plans on taking it on the street. |

"...never to be referred to as a 'thumper'..." LOL! Serious. Then would it be a "pooter" for the sound it makes? Bumper? Humper? That reminds me, I gotta go make a "Grumper" in the dumper. |

BTW, the Sporty tank looks pretty sick! Kinda makes it look like the bastard love-child that resulted from a one-nighter between Knievel's bike and the aforementioned flat-tracker. Having roots in vintage Yamaha, I know next to nothing about the 100. Two- or four-stroke? I'll keep my eye open for parts. |
