Is that a strap-it-roll-it-forward type of setup? Doesn't look like ratcheting straps. Do you have a side view of the whole thing? Edit: ah hah, more pics in the link which didn't appear when the page first loaded on my phone. The joys of surfing the web with a 2" screen. Edit the edit: that also gives me a solution for hanging up some bicycles in the garage and basement this winter. Double thanks for the link and heads-up, I appreciate it. Save a tree, use steel. 8-) (Message edited by mikej on October 29, 2009) |

Perfect timing. With snow on the horizon, I've been getting my winter "to do" list compiled. One thing was to replace the steering neck bearings. I've been trying for find a solution for lifting the bike. Problem solved |

np - that stand's link appeared this a.m. on a local M/C BBS' 'McGyver' thread here's selected text from that same thread: battery mini-charger - 50-cent thrift store AC/DC adapter (output 12vdc/500 mA) - works as a battery trickle-charger tire pump - $5 thrift store car air compressor [plugs into cig lighter] - after stripping away all plastic/unnecessary stuff - the remaining machinery is not much bigger than a fist, fits under seat and connects directly to battery - add tire plug kit for quick on-road puncture repairs duct tape wrapped around air gauge or a pen [plus some zip ties] under seat saves riders' butts every day also mentioned is a new-to-me J-B product, called J-B Stik |
