So is this HD's way of trying to incorporate Buell riders into the fold?

Even if this is not targeted at Buell riders (maybe riders of any brand) all this would do is piss you off. I think their new goal is to increase membership in the HD hate club.

Just helps to bolster the preconceived notions people have of going to Harley dealers. Stupid.

You own a motorcycle or in your case Jamiec several, the new target demographic,

any one who spends on Motorcycles, gear or the like.

you have money and a pulse so your in.

BTW take a couple of snaps of your buells, put that and the snaps in an envelope with a note that says to the effect

No thanks i have it right,
I dont need a "fat low wide bob glide electra king boy duce rod tail springer train",

That WOULD be a mistake.

Send that to the corperate orfice att the board of mis-directors or the like

BFFB

I've never said anything bad about anyone's bike who didn't own an HD.

I can't imagine a company taking this tactic even if they felt this way.

Weird.

Lately I've been thinking my Harley is a mistake.

If I develop some twisted need for something overweight, and underpowered I can always buy a car.

I agree, everyone makes mistakes. I used to ride Hardleys. That was my mistake.

i can't wait to dial 516-409-9200 tomorrow and let them know what a "real" bike is.

A REAL BIKE:
(1) doesn't ride on a trailer
(2) has never felt the tug of tie-downs
(3) doesn't need a skull sticker to look tough
(4) isn't a shirt company that makes bikes too
(5) doesn't need more chrome to be accepted
(6) doesn't have highway pegs
(7) needs new tires before it needs an oil change
(8) gets ridden not polished
(9) has no idea what a poker run is
(10) leans more when ridden than parked

The way I interpret the ad makes perfect sense.

If you messed up and bought a Fatboy, ride it in and get a real bike. A Buell!

I no longer consider an HD to be a real motorcycle.

It is a money sink.
It is a means to establish status whether it's in actuality or simply in one's mind.

I think they're very pretty to look at but it begins and ends there.

I put the "a real bike leans more when ridden than parked" on the wall of Harley's Facebook page and also on Buell's with "thanks Erik and all of BMC for making real bikes"

You know, we played nice with HD. We did what was asked and didn't bash them on the 26th. No one here can tell me that a single dealer invented that advert all on their own. That looks like some kind of stock advert provided by the Murdership.

Yet I'm sure we're still expected to play nice.

Fat Boy Lo...that sounds like the name of a hip-hop singer, maybe thats how they are trying to appeal to the younger crowd. how's this for a commercial idea.

I'm Fat boy lo
i'm heavy and slow
i like taking it easy
because curves make me queezy
custom tie straps they hold me down
as i trailer around from town to town
my front wheel stays planted and never does any lifting
i like cruisin along with no gears shifting
the only times i like leaning
are when my parts get their cleaning

i'm fat boy lo, i'm heavy and slow
i'm fat boy lo, all show and no go

I think you are taking 'scattergun' advert too personally.

It's not any departure from the tone of their advertising for the last 10 years.

It's actually not a bad Highway bike. Brembo Brakes, Showa Suspension, and the best motor they have produced so far.

Cornering clearance is poor though.

According to their sales manager, that is a stock Harley Davidson ad... not one they came up with themselves (yes, I did complain IMMEDIATELY upon receiving that ad in my E-Mail).

Still... nice, huh? Like anything but their chrome garage jewelry isn't a REAL bike.

Excuse me while I hurl...

All the dealer has to do is log on to H-D.net, enter their dealership details and the programme generates and downloads the advert .pdfs automatically.

They're preaching to the HD choir, frankly. It'll only offend those of us that wouldn't ever consider a Harley, so, what's the point?
