You're out in the garage playing with your bike and have the radio on. What song will make you walk over and shut the radio off?

R-E-S-P-E-C-T by Aretha Franklin
Hooked on a Feelin' by Blue Swede
Lucille

Any of these three make me want to

Anything by AC DC. My local station plays it almost every hour like its some new band or something. I can tell its 9:45am because Hwy to hell came on. Noon its Back in black. 1:30 you shook me all night long, and 3:30pm its Thunderstruck.

So somedays I switch to the country station to keep me sanity. But that only last for so long. I heard the new Brad Paisley song 5 times in 8 hours. Its insanity!!!!

"Take it to the limit, one more time...."
pretty much anything by the Eagles, Chicago, Boston, or Journey. We only get two classic rock stations and one country station.

Beat It
YMCA
The halloween Jeckle/HydeHydeHyde song (I actually walked out of a store once because this song was playing, let go of the shoping cart in the aisle and just left, Jeckle Jeckle Jeckle Jeckle Hyde Hyde Jeckle --- argh, make it stoooooop...)

Normally I just work in silence. The garage is my sanctuary, or the basement in the winter.

One of the worse things I've done in the recent past was cancel my XM subscription. FM radio seems to have 20 songs and loops it. Imagine a work day starting at 7am, ending at midnight and you've literally heard the same song 6 times!

Anybody remember Bobby Goldsboro's Honey?
How about Tie A Yellow Ribbon?
Or Maybe Signs by the five note jackass band, or whatever they called themselves?

I don't listen to the radio anymore. I have a 3-disc CD player that I load and hit random play. Much better than XM and way better that classic rock radio(barf) or candy-coated country.

What I really dislike about radio anymore is the two songs and eighty five commercials per hour and two notices that they play more music than any other station(most of it is in the commercials).

Since I got this MP3 player I listen to about 280 songs that I like and never a commercial. If one ever hits me as annoying I push the delete button and it is gone for good. It is the best investment in a music listeners bag of tricks. I plug it into my helmet speakers, my truck's stereo, and my walk around head phones. It is just right.

Pandora.com
plug a bunch of stuff in (seeds) and see what comes out. The more you tell it what you do and don't like the better it gets

I suggest
Tad Benoit
Slade
The Jesus and Mary Chain
Iron Maiden
The Journeymen
Squirrel Nut Zippers
Derek Trucks
Guitar Shorty
Tommy Castro
Warrior Soul
Koko Taylor
Peter Tosh
Phil Lesh
King Diamond

Or PM me and I'll "invite" you to one of my play lists

They play a 30-second commercial every 30 minutes or so, or pay $36 for a year and get no commercials. You can listen on a PC or smartphone/iphone.

I don't have a stereo in the garage, but my PC is in the room right next to it (my basement "man room"), so if I'm listening to anything, it's an online station. Usually Keiichi EX2, which is a Japanese animation soundtrack / J-pop station that I did some website artwork for. I've yet to hear anything that made me turn it off. Odd, listening to Japanese music working on an American bike.

Pandora ROCKS! +1 on Tab Benoit. I have numerous stations set-up but only use Pandora in the office. It has ruined my budget and my CD collection has flourished

My music tastes are all over the place, it really depends on my mood.

Only thing I really don't like is opera. I don't listen to the opera station, nor is there any on my iPod/iTunes.

So I'm in pretty good shape.

Anything, and I mean anything by, about, or of Taylor Swift. Problem is she is crossing over out of pure country and onto other stations.

"What song will make you walk over and shut the radio off?"

"I wanna kiss a girl" by Mr Keith Urban Kidmann.

Dude, if you're gay, kissing a girl isn't going to change your love of the pecker.

For me it's not a crappy song so much as the commercials. Too many, too loud, too often.

Josh,

Thanks for the tip about Pandora!
Now I gotta get off my butt and hook the pc to the surround sound...
