Almost 9,000 fans now. It was somewhere in the 6K range before the announcement. That made me think that the list of Buell "friends" on Facebook would be valuable to future efforts like Homecoming, etc. I wonder if there will be any way to salvage it? |

it was in the 4,000 range when I joined it on announcement day so it jumped up quickly |

This is Exactly WHY all the other "me too" facebook sites popping up in an attempt to "save" Buell only dilute the impact. (Message edited by slaughter on October 28, 2009) |

I've been drumming up Badweb business on 1130cc as well. Alot of VR guys and girls have taken advantage of the pricing to become part of the Buell family. |

EB also has a facebook page. He gets online regularly and will reply to just about everyone. I had a brief conversation with him on facebook chat twice. Gotta love a guy who talks to his riders! http://www.facebook.com/search/?q=erik+buell&init= quick#/profile.php?id=1669824900&ref=search&sid=10 0000021524520.938188344..1 |

He's one of a kind. Erik "gets it". He's a rider, eaten up with the passion and love for riding just like us. Damn, I am just so anxious to see what happens next. I just have to believe that this isn't the end. |

Chadhargis - I just have to believe that this isn't the end Agreed! I truly believe that 2010 is going to be an interesting year. Erik has many passions, but at his core he is a motorcyclist with a heavy emphasis on racing. It's in his blood. Having met him and seen his passion, whether it was helping out a race team at the track or riding with a small group of guys that he had never met before in his life through the White Mountains of New Hampshire - he simply glowed when he was around his bikes. The company that we all know and love may be history in its current sense, but the passion that drove it is still there. That passion, combined with his vision of how things "should be", will create something new and exciting. I for one stand ready to embrace it! |

Having a degree in public relations, I can tell you that there aren't many companies selling units in multiple nations, winning race championships, and doing all the things BMC did who have a founder/company executive that interacts with the customers the way Erik does. Even if he never designed anything, or brought to life some of his ideas, from a PR standpoint, the guy is a genius. A truly good person with passion that is infectious. Some people have a "public face" they put on. Granted, I don't know Erik, but he strikes me as a very genuine person. BMC might be squashed, but Erik is alive and well. He's got the backing of his faithful. He has a team of dedicated employees who I'm betting would follow him off a cliff. He's got ideas and innovations. I'm sure there are people willing to back him financially. We all have to want and see what happens. I just don't see Erik saying, "I quit". That's not the indication I get from his past actions. |

"A truly good person with passion that is infectious" Bingo. I met him for the very first time at the last ride. I was blown away. What a great set of folks up there. |

Court, I suggested to Erik on his Facebook page that he get with you to write another book....perhaps a screenplay. If Burt Munro can get a movie made about him, I'm thinking a movie about Erik would be a box office hit. Erik's comment was:
quote:Erik Buell But how will they find anyone ugly enough to play me? Oooh wait, that's right they can fix that in Hollywood; they can pick any actor! I could be good looking for once!
Popular vote is Ewen McGregor or Liam Neeson to play Erik. LOL! |
