Won't take my vote. I think they need a "too soon to say for certain" option. |

The RIGHT move for Buell (Erik) (That which does not kill us makes us stronger) The WRONG move for Hardley (Our customers will NEVER die of old age) The WRONG move for the employees. (You broke up our family and tried to send Pa to jail) I don't need a survey |

A week ago, I would have said it would be an easy decision, but my dilemma when looking at the questions today were this... I think HD made the wrong decision by themselves in dropping Buell and MV. I think HD made the wrong decision by the employees by dropping both brands. I think I have more hope for Buell than ever now that they are NOT with HD. They have been taken off their leash, so if they can reinstate themselves somehow, I believe they will be back under better management than ever. Makes a clear cut decision not so clear cut. |

It really depends if Buell bounces back and becomes stronger in the end. Only time will tell. |

From what I can tell Buell is certainly NOT "off the leash". HD own 99% of Buell and don't seem to want to sell the brand. Nobody can restart Buell without first buying the brand from HD. HD, I'm pretty sure won't sell to anybody, least of all, sell it back to Erik. Limbo. |

I voted, but really I shouldn't have. From now on what Harley does is no business of mine. |

I think I still have a jacket with a flipped bar&shield patch on it. I'll have to did it out and start flying it again. Three cheers for the new American V-twin...Victory ! They made 10 years and all the up'n comers think HD's suck so the "factory" is comin' due for a rude awakening. Eff them and their Chinese chrome junk. |

I voted, but really I shouldn't have. From now on what Harley does is no business of mine. I disagree! I want both Harley and Buell to survive! I just want Harley to get rid of that idiot that is running the show. He doesn't seem to know squat about motorcycles or the people that ride them! Just because Harley doesn't know how to market Buell sport motorcycles doesn't mean that they should drop them. Especially spending a 125 million to drop them and not try to sell the brand. If I owned stock in HOG and the CEO did something stupid like that, I'd sell all of my stock in a heartbeat! |

Time to reinvent the classic. S1 Motard.... The problem is outside the existing customers I doubt there would be much interest. Remember whatever becomes of Buell (if anything), has to put sales and service as it's #1 priority. It's back to lean times... To have great sales, they have to compete with modern bikes. That's where the 1125R and CR came into play. I really felt that for the first time Buell had a bike(s) that really spanked the competition out the gate. There was a lot right with the older XB and even tubers, but the younger buying public wasn't excited about the product, and if you can't bring them into the fold, then you have no lasting brand. There were a lot of things wrong with HD [selling off] (strike that) shuting down Buell, but lets face it, not many of us were talking about what a great dealership and support system we had with our local HD dealer. Most sportbike riders weren't flocking into the HD showroom to look at the Buells, and even if they did, the salespeople (with limited exceptions) weren't excited about selling them a Buell and wanted to show them a HD product instead. Did HD have a golden goose without realizing it? Yes, can they build a modern bike without vision at the top? nope. Will they miss Buell? As a corporation, probably not until they realize how many patents they are using that belonged to the BMC (see the XR1200 for a prime example), but most dealerships are more than happy to get Buells out of the showroom, now they can expand their t-shirt collection, or HD shot glass collection. Reminder: Harley Davidson did NOT "sell off Buell" as Wbrisett states above. They sold off MV Agusta. They SHUT DOWN Buell. NOT the same thing. |
