In my business I see the economy hit as well. But drinking is usually the last luxury that goes or one quits. |

Yep- Folks swill more when the economy's in the can. What I do see is some drink less. Some that drink premium Vodka or even Whiskey have now reduced to drinking the rail Equivalent. Even some that was drinking there fav import may still but less of and drinking more of the domestic. Its a juggle really. But none the less everyday they come for conversation. Sounds like they've just downgraded brands at your place....as opposed to drinking less. This would still show a lighter till each night, even with an increase in drinking. Did they ban smoking in bars in your state, yet? That KILLED the NY taverning industry. The recession has actually helped it, in this neck of the woods. I hope to visit your place someday, sounds like a good one. |

Someone mention beer? My favorite is Bear Republic Racer 5 Indian Pale Ale. This year I got into Beer and Wine Making. So far I have made: 5 gal. hard apple cider from our trees now bottled and waiting Halloween. 8 gal. fig wine also from our trees. 5 gal. London Brown Ale which is conditioning in in a carboy, and will be bottled next week. I also joined another forum homebrewtalk.com. Cheers to Erik!

But I have been paying attention to indivdual's that have changed there drinking habit's. In this ecomomy I understand. But at 120 or so bars I can feel good that we are the top 10% anyhow... that according to my sales rep's in which I place orders with on Mondays. The smoking ban you ask.....LOL. Yeah it was passed but will not take effect till July 5th of 2010. So I bet it'll be a smoke fest during the 4th of July. |

Hey, hey, hey wait now. Bads1, I'm confused, your saying drinking is a luxury? I've never thought about it from that standpoint but, ok, so what about oxygen? Or food? I'm just trying to understand. |

Yes it can be a luxury. Depends on how you look at it. Do you drink cheap beer and can afford more?? Or do you drink it because thats all you can afford?? Do you drink Top shelve Scotch and can't really afford it??? Anything can be a luxury?? |

You can make beer cheaper than you can buy it, and it is better as well, and no sin taxes...up to 200 gallons per year. DAMHIK! AAIWT! (Ask, And I Will Tell). ps. Did you know that real Beer is alive? |

GOD IS GREAT of that there is no doubt My alchohol control is simple thanks to the booze industry for 1/2 pints this is my way of consumption control as I buy less I drink less, it abstractly saves me money as well. How does this work you ask well I will tell you I like to drink Gentleman Jack or Tallomore's dew they are fine spirits but only come in 5th's or 750's or better they are quite expensive and 1 750 gets me 2 nights slopping it up if I am able to control myself. 1/2 pints are 1/3 the price sometimes better than that if I go on the cheap (Evan Williams) not bad for rock gut so as you my compadres can see there is BETTER LIVING THROUGH MATHEMATICS AND CHEMISTRY and Harley well thats just a dirty word right now |
