I'm not very computer literate. I have a seven year old Dell desktop that I'm thinking of replacing. I use my computer mainly for surfing the web, and a few games. I occasionally burn a CD, but not too often. I would like the ability to copy DVDs.(I also would like for my computer to be able to do the same). Given that information, and hopefully, without this being a springboard for a flaming argument between you more educated and skillful digital freaks, what would you recommend as a good replacement for my dinosaur? |

You said "Dinosaur"!!!! Mmmmm BBQ.Should've seen me last Saturday cursing a storm utterly lost in Boston.Got great BBq in Somerville tho,THANKS. ONTOPIC.....ALL of the even cheapest computers do all of what you want in a computer now.I'd suggest tho,the biggest monitor you can afford. Makes those DVD movies FUN. Well you're not asking it to do much hard stuff so just about anything will get you going. I'd look for something with a duel core CPU and DVD burner built in. Dell, HP/Compaq any of the better name should do what you're asking. NOW Copying a DVD may or may happen as the Courts ruled for the Studios and the software to do is going away. You can still find it if you look but there's no support. Of course you can always go to the "Dark Side" and fork over a big wad of cash and get an Apple! But if you end up the a Windows machine buy a good anti-virus program and keep it updated. Birdy |

Hey Crusty, as it would be I work here- www.slcomp.com I could build you one of our standard boxes at far below what we charge usual customers to do what you want and more. We are not Dell, Hp, Compaq, Apple, or any of the other "corporations" but we build good products and stand behind them. Also, as said above basically ANYTHING nowadays will do exactly what you want. |

My wrist watch has enough power to do what you want. Pretty much any computer will work, just make sure you got a DVD burner, which is pretty much standard equipment these days. Anyway, I can teach you how to copy your DVDs, it isn't hard to do once you figure it out. Or we could work something out, I copy your DVDs in exchange for some fun time with your No-Mar |

Ducxl; Redbones is really good, aren't they? Froggy; Tire changes are always free for Buells. Bring the wheels, or the whole bike; I've got a slew of stands and jacks and wooden muffler cradles, and a Craftsman lift. We can always figure a way to get it done. |
