Re-badging a Buell as an HD won't make it an HD.

It'll be something that was strong armed away from a really great motorcycle company.

Besides, why on earth would HD re-badge the bikes??

The factory where they were built is being shut down. The workers who built them are being 'let go'.

If HD had plans of taking over the brand and re-badging them, you'd think they'd keep the facilities & the staff.

It makes about as much sense as dropping Buell in the first place.

If they were planning on renaming the bikes and still selling them, they wouldn't have closed the factory and fired the 200 employees.

h-d spit in the faces of about 135,000 people (plus peripheral people) and if shutting down Buell was to get me into a "harley brand" sport bike owner.....it ain't gonna happen!!!!. I'll buy "real Buells" on eBay,craigslist or where ever....but not from h-d. They can go pound sand as far as I'm concerned.

Mikef5000,
"If they were planning on renaming the bikes and still selling them, they wouldn't have closed the factory and fired the 200 employees"

I thought they just shut it down until the beginning of the new year? Then start building bikes again..

If H-D wants my money for a next bike; they can resurrect the Rooster.
Otherwise they can kiss my filthy muddy grime covered underslung pipe.

and that is the polite version.

I'd dig a Street Bob. Black one. Bit of me.
New Thunderbird is very, very nice too - be a hard choice.

For now, the point is moot for me. Don't have the bucks to buy anything. I'm in a business where cuts just keep coming and great products don't matter as much as stock prices and bottom lines.

It's a brave new world out there, and H-D did what it did to save its stock. I hate what happened, but I don't hate H-D. It's just a company and only the hype around it made me think of it as family.

Should I be in a position to augment my Blast, I'd consider an XR1200, an FX6R, a used XB Ss or whatever is available.

If Erik is designing bikes for any company, whereever it's built, I'll give it priority. To me, one man putting his vision into metal and motor is worth supporting.

He's as close to "family" as you can get in the motorcycling world.
