I am trying to answer what questions I can but don't have time to read and respond to all the posts, all the e-mails and carry on some of the things I am doing. I've been trying to summarize things in the Court in Session area. There are many possibilities. | ||

thanks for all of the small bits of positive light you have given to us...I for one appreciate all the time that you are obviously spending reading all these threads and sort of corralling people's emotions and offering us some light at the end of the tunnel so to speak. I am holding off on picking up one of the "fire sale" bikes at the current time, because i have a feeling i would like to be part one of the charter members of what's up the road. | ||

Slicker, If it makes you feel any better, I wish you were still over at Legend Silverdale. There sure are a lot of douche canoes at the dealerships here in Western Washington. I'd be there in a second with cash in hand to pick up my new 1125CR. | ||

It was May of 1999. I rode my S3-T out to see the Springfield Mile, and was having a less than idyllic journey. First, on my way west, my Front Isolator broke in Indianapolis. Fortunately, the dealer had one of the new style recall isolators in stock. They had a hell of a time drilling the broken bolt out of the head, but they finally succeeded, and sent me back on my way with a repaired bike. I went and saw the Mile, met up with Leigh and Leslie and we all went over to Alexander's Steak House and ate a great meal, told them I'd see them in a couple of weeks at Homecoming, then headed out for home. I was almost in Scranton, when I saw at a rest stop that my rear tire was cut badly. I don't know what I ran over, but it took a big slice out of the tread, and even had cut some of the cord. So I pulled into the Dealership in Scranton, and all they had for a tire was a D 204 Dunlop, so I told them to put it on. A few hours later, and $275 lighter, I was back on the road; but not for long. About 30 miles later, I felt the sudden increase of vibration that I felt on the way out, so I pulled over and looked at the front isolator: and sure enough, it was broken. This time, however, it had taken a chunk of the head when it snapped. I cautiously rode to a Rest Area that was just ahead, and called my one contact at Buell. I got her voice mail, and described what had happened. Then I decided to press on for a little while, since I couldn't do anything to improve my situation. I rode kind of cautiously for another 50 miles or so, then pulled into a gas station to see if I had gotten any response. I called my answering machine at home and the message that was on it told me to call Bill Bailey (Buell's head of Customer Service). I called him, and explained what had happened. Bill asked me my present location, then told me to get to the dealership in Danbury and have them call him, and it would be taken care of. I then stated that I didn't know about dealerships in Wisconsin, but in the Northeast, Service Departments were booked up solid for over a month in advance, and I also mentioned that I was disappointed that I now wouldn't be able to make it to Homecoming. Bill told me, "You'll be at Homecoming if I have to come out there and bring you back myself." The next morning, I was at the dealership when they opened, and told them to call. I don't know what Mr. Bailey said or promised, but I was back on the road a few hours later. The following week I was at Homecoming. Bill Bailey, like almost everybody associated with Buell, was a true Gentleman and an Enthusiast. Typical of the folks in East Troy. |
