from N.J./Phila. here, I am just thinkin about it, it be the longest trip on a bike for me, 860 miles. I can but my 10k service is due soon. Lets see 10k service ?? or really cool trip!! I am still not decided.
Last time I was in WI. was when my buddy Kevin (RIP) and my Uncle Richard "BUG" Slupski (RIP) and I went to see my brother graduate from the Naval Academy in the early 80's. I was 18 and drinking age was 21 in Illinois so we drove up to Milwaukee to go "clubbin" lol. Had great time. I even met a sweet female naval officer and made out in my truck lol...we got wasted and almost into a fight cuz we kept asking folks where Fonzie, Richie, Ralph and Potzie were (it WAS the early 80's!). Then we ended up at this place called the SAFEHOUSE. Needed a password to get in or do 50 pushups.
Kind of a speakeasy thing, and some fake doors (restroom door opens to brick wall) and some lockable cage-booths for the bouncers to put folks who get aggressive into. The bars were all setup from different countries, the whole decor, the waitress outfits everything. Very cool place. Got wasted and then lost in the farmlands of WI for a few hours on our way back to the hotel in Chicago. Yea...we passed a few biker bars but we didnt stop for fear of getting stomped on.
I'm not going to make it. I can't get the time off from work and still keep my job. If I go, then I'll be unemployed without access to unemployment compensation; and there are damned few jobs out there right now. It really tears me up, but I just can't afford to not have any income. My heart will be with you all; and we'll have a Homecoming next summer that I can look forward to.
As it turns out, for some reason I am pushing primary oil out through the breather vent. So I will be unable to ride to the event. However, I still want to be there, would anybody be to upset if I drove my Jeep down?
Talk about bad timing....If I wasn't in the process of separating from my wife, I'd be there in a heartbeat. As it is, excess funds may be at a minimum. Raise one for me, dudes.
Damn . . . . I am AMAZED they added it . . I just made a poster of it. I've got it scheduled for a "remind me to tell you" story at Homecoming . . . . 2012.
Crusty . . . no worries . . . you've always been there and done far more than your fair share . . . we have this one covered and you'll be with us in spirit.
Help!!! Where is the "Dry Dock Saloon" located? I live in Antioch, Illinois and have never heard of it before! I'm going out now and will ask around to see if anyone know where it's at!
