this seems to be the right time to pull this from the basement of my memory, I have lurked since 2001 and have only recently posted. the time is 1978 or there abouts, one of the big mags have an article on a new AMERICAN engine ,to be used in a modular form,replace the xr750 engine.in a block form of parallel twos= twins. this example was 750cc , the weight of a 650 triumph,non unit construction. ALL cnc, short fins for effect ,liquid cooled( and I not not mean oil cooled for those led down that path in error).a be-eau-utiful piece of work, 12 pt bolt heads all around , 4 bolt rods, 1300 rpms , 143 hp at the crank on intial dyno runs,broke the mount so we could not see it nor HEAR it run that day this was at Paramount machine in paramount ca., response- he machines the blocks for - I believe something like keith black-some fuel drag engines.I asked" what was the basis for your engine and he responded-I took the offy and the ferrari ,splint the difference for the valve angles,now for me if I could split the atom I would still have to say, I think it is the sparkplug,( for those that have not seen that caption- a 500 lb man sitting on the MOPED ,that is his reponse to the mecs question," what is the problem"? I dont weigh 500lbs. I did not bring this up mongst others, the sputhe xr1300 for those that want - need air to - cool. but the ball is in motion no chains to weigh down, and THE best assembly of talent AND passion for motorcyles EVER. and it is NOW, ps "is it time to buy when the best is yet to come" and goes to the right people? please over look my puncuation and spelling as I seem to have lost them somewhere in my notes- not sure I took notes come to think of it. | ||

pss later ,I do not recall- a year, maybe I asked a friend "Have you heard what became of that engine,? his response was"that hd had bought it". lower case for emphasis. |
