Don, the S3T is heavier than the Uly. It's only about 25LBS, but it is heavier. The reason I built my 'ulybolt' was to make a modern S3T. While it doesn't look nearly as good as the S3T(what does?), it does just about everything else better. |

I've owned a 98 S3 (no bags) and currently ride an 06 Useless. Rear wheel bearings aside, the XB is the better machine - suspension in particular. |

I put 60K on my S3-T. I put 34.5K om my '06 Uly and have 29K on my '08 XT. The S3-T is the most beautiful ever made, but the Uly is a better motorcycle. |

It almost seems like if I'm looking for a distance-going Buell, I should get the Uly unless I really WANT an S3T. Problem is I really want both. The Tuber will likely make a better conversation piece... |

I don't know of enough long-term data to suggest that the Uly will ( or will not) hold up as well as an S3T for long-distance riding. I do know that my S2T has done several coast-to-coast runs (NY-SF, SF-NY) with all original components save for tires and a couple belts. The long-term/hi-mile data, for obvious reasons, simply cannot yet exist for so new a model as the Uly. It may very well be that the Uly outstrips tubers, etc. in longevity and reliablity, but for the present, all we have to go on is speculation. |

responding to steve_mackay, several posts above "While it doesn't look nearly as good as the S3T(what does?)" A: The S2T. The pe-Harley-Davidson frame of the S2T, with the lower saddle loop, the removable swingarm iso-plates, the more flowing bodywork, the frame-bossed fairing, etc., all suggesting more of Erik's own original design, is generally considered more aesthetically pleasing than the s3T. I own both, and will absolutely attest to this general consensus. (Message edited by tramp on October 20, 2009) |
