Gohot - Please keep the KTM shit off these pages. Many in BMC upper ranks have a VERY bad taste in their mouths for that brand. The company almost got bought by HD but the CEO's arrogance and bad manners got him chased out of the conference room according to the story I heard. Zack |

The KTM has 150 hp stock. Still, I love the styling. In keeping with the "razor blade" comments: That's one sharp bike! *Ba-dump--bump!* Thank you! I'll be here all weekend! EDIT: BTW, see that exhaust? Pretty sleek version of an underslung... woulda' looked good on the 1125, instead of that lumpy thing it wound up with. ~SM (Message edited by Swordsman on October 27, 2009) |

Well the title was "whats your next bike going to be?" correct.... then the derogatory comments on just what my choice was. Cant have it both ways, now can you, I gave you the picture of my choice, it was met with critisizm or unflatering comments. well then to prove its street cred and the capabilities of KTM two more pictures. As for difference of opinion, theres plenty here on the forum, top to bottom. I think what the pourpose of this thread was to put it in harleys face that they would not be buying their product anymore, but instead something probably all around better, more reliable and not of some pre-historic design. You people defend your Buells like children argue over candy. No-one is worthy but you, its downhill from there. no tolerance. That reflects over to harleys line of big twins, sportys are girlie bikes, dressers for old men, and whatever other difference they can find. Ok what is the bike that makes you perfect in everyone's eyes, what is the acceptable? if I'd knon better I'd have got exactly what you have, just to be safe from critisizem. Leudacrous, ....all of it. Buell just didnt make it, harleys to blame period, all else is bull shit, harley pulled the plug, noone else. Now theres a bunch of pissed off creatures with Buells that have to face the prospect that there will never be Buells manufactured.....big pissed off, LOTs of pissed off. Well theres nothing thats going to change the attitude, so just fight within your ranks, go at it, get testy, its pointless. There are way so many bikes that are superior to the Buell, its easy to see why it was hard to compete. So as far as my pics, there you have the choice, then the reason, sure wouldnt want to upset you........so ....I'll not trouble you with KTM..............lol.lol |

Don't lump all of us in with Zac's comment there Gohot. I for one love KTM, and with no disrespect intended could care less what some folks in BMC might think of them. If I had the funds, I would have a KTM in the garage right next to my Buell. |

I honestly have no idea what else I would want- saw the white & blue 11-quad-r and all that stuck in my head was "thats it." I don't have any desire for any other sport bike. And by the time its paid off, god only knows where the bike market will be. I'd almost be afraid to consider buying anything else seeing as how not only my car (saturn) was discont'd but my bike as well. Next thing I know, Gary Fischer (bicycle), and Nike will be next on the chopping block. |

Superiority is largely a matter of wants, personal preferences, and opinion. I told a guy today, "there are very few bad bikes out there today...it's a matter of choosing one to suit ones needs and riding style." I do like the RC8...and...really...all KTM's. |

Heres a thought...............mabe an insane thought, but we are all dissenchanted with Harley's demise in the Buell motorcycle. Many are thinking of the next bike now that Buell is gone..'teneativly or fact' either one. But thinking of the next Bike that they want to spend their time and effort with. After all it's sort of like marriage, the extent of the love affair that passionate Beull owners feel. So with the whole US economy in the pits, perhaps there is some exceedingly wealthy Sheik, setting in luxury, somewhere in DUBAI, that might entertain the small purchase of a Novel American Brand of Motorcycle. It could keep it alive..... mabe thriveing...... I told You it was an INSANE thought, but just who could afford to BUY the Beull Nameplate, who has the hundereds of millions? So anyway, another thought is this.....Since we all have come to love the feel and performance of the Buell lineup, especially in reguard to the Bullet Bike afficianados, what would be the likely next choice viable and available to take Buell's place? Thus was my previous awnser and comments some fiew posts up from here. The list would include V Twins, and who makes V Twins....? Well Ducati, Aprilla, Suzuki? 'I think still' and KTM. The feel of the V Twin is its own reward, and can't be explained to anyone not framiliar with the experiance. The cadance of the V motor, the torque, the pull when the throttle opens, the rumble of the exhaust....ok I'm preaching to the choir here on this point. But just who can fill Buells shoes for us at this point, that is, with NEW offerings, 09's, 10's, 11's ? Nobody, basically. We all feel betrayed now by HD, it wasn't bad enough to always be just a little beat up when going to the Dealers for parts and service, but now alot of us feel that simply we were betrayed. None of us can put the CEO's shoes on and make the decission that was just made and ALL the reasons that led to the decission, certainly there were some secret meetings and game plans discussed and emplimented at those meetings, but for most of us the 'GIST' of those decissions is apparent with the now closed facilities. I have had a bad taste left in my mouth since the news became widespread, of the demise, and am looking to change flavors. Dissatisfaction, defiance of HD, revolt ?.....all of these could describe why. but the final outcome is that I'm through with anything Harley Davidson related. The King is Dead, Long Live The King. I've never had a new buell, both were bought used, so I'll continue to buy used buells. After all the world is going to end in 2012..right? The buells I have now should last until then. |

I don't buy "new bikes" anymore. I only tried that once. Bought a brand new HD Streetglide, back in late 2005. Spent 2 years going from dealer to dealer, trying to get them to fix it. Ended up at an independent, who traced the problem to a flaking gas tank, a jacked TPS, and some other stupidity. So the warranty on my Harley? Meaningless. Why buy new? I am not being mean when I say that, but for me? I would rather find a bike that is a year or two old, that has been taken decent care of, and take my chances. Having said that? Speed Triple Uly KLR650 Older MotoGuzzi 1100 Sport, mebbe a 96, they were still carbed then... or an XB12 that is in decent shape. I would not buy all of these, but sooner or later, I will sell the Big HD, take the bath financially, and take the remaining money, buy a fun bike and have some money left over. Harley's as an investment? Yeah, and my ex-wife still loves me.... New bikes are cool, I am just gun shy after the epic fail the only time I tried it. I have had bikes on and off for 20 years, and the brand new one was the worst experience. I don't care about the latest and greatest, I want something that will not cause a lot of stupid drama. My HD? Nothing but drama. |

If I had the means to buy a new bike right this minute it would be a red 09 XT. And (since I'm in fantasy land right now) the red 09 1125CR sitting next to it And (since I'm now waayyyy deep in fantasy land) an Aprilia RSV4 |

My next bike will be an XB12SS, I'm in the process of trading in my Harley for one. I'm also working on an '09 1125CR, so by the middle of November, there should be two new to me, Buells in my garage. |

My next new bike will be my old bike. I'm rebuilding my '50 FL again. The engine is done and sitting right here on the coffee table. Picked up the front end from the machine shop yesterday. Some mock up assembly today will show me exactly what needs modified on the frame.... |
