I'd thought I'd just share my discussion I had with my dealer this afternoon... I walked in the door and Stewart, the sales manager, approached me right away and told me, "Man, you're trade value just took a sh!t!", haha. Anyways - he said that individual dealers will need to sign an amended contract to continue to be able to service Buell's - he assured me they were signing this contract on Monday, especially in light of the only other local dealer dropping Buell last month. Prices are severely marked down, but not in the arena some are touting. They have 1 2009 1125CR, 1 2010 XB12R, 3 Blast!s, 1 2009 Uly and a handful of Lightnings, CityX, Scgs, etc. I sold them the 2010 Firebolt for them to a good buddy of mine, and they gave me a hard to pass up price on the Uly they had. I really want that bike. Anyways - we all know how good dealer's info is, but I was told that Erik has a position with development at Harley, and I shouldn't be surprised if we start seeing XRs with liquid-cooled engines, ZTL brakes, etc. I'm sure there's a bit of speculation in there, and I'm betting Court may correct some of this, but I'm just passing on what I was told. The bad news is that the Buell brand is dead, at least as we know it today. I'm holding out hope that something may emerge from Erik Buell, but I'm coming to terms with what we're dealing with. The good news is I have another Buell in life with my buddy buying his Firebolt on Monday, and my dealer seems very intent on staying in the Buell business for the foreseeable future. I'm proud to be an owner, and the '64 XLCH is going up for sale so I can be the owner of more than one. |
