So, Court, no need to worry about rocking the boat any longer. When are you going to let your feelings and insights fly? |

I certainly wouldnt be eating popcorn...lol I guess I just want to see some public humiliation of those responsible. I seek vengeance. However, cooler heads should prevail. Carry on |

Court, if you need investors, just let us know. Actually I've made several posts on HOG(NYSE)'s murder of Buell. And yes, though my politics are far to the left of the denizens of the right that hang out on badweb, HOG(NYSE) has miraculously united us in common cause. So yes, even though my Buell experience hasn't been too rosy, I'm pissed as hell too. I've been through this before- I opened the paper in the break room at Sears back in 1969 and was greeted with the bad news that GM had stopped Corvair production with no warning. Next day before work I drove my '61 Monza around the local Chevy dealers looking for any new Corvair to buy. Turned out the dealers had been given some advance warning and employees and other insiders had already bought up every last Corvair. My mom had bought a '66 Monza new (lovely maroon 4 door hardtop) and GM sent her a $200 coupon good for any new GM vehicle. Even my mild mannered mom was so pissed she never used the coupon and my family hasn't bought GM since. There's a positive note here too- Downtown Chevy in Minneapolis kept their last Corvair on the showroom floor for years, and kept a good stock of Corvair parts on hand too. For years they were a mecca for Corvair owners until the neighborhood went to hell and they closed. Well they had no more Corvairs to sell, besides the parts & service plenty of Corvair owners bought new Chevy trucks, etc. there because they didn't forget the Corvair. Buell dealers, please note... |

The level of ignorance is obvious when they state the under 35 crowd is the target for the custom big twin tourer, uhh no, the Japanese IL4 has that market knocked. The demographic for the obese packiderm HD is the 60+ buyer with an ever shrinking retirement fund. IMO HD has shot themselves in the foot. They didn't learn anything from the AMF debaucle. |

>>>>Court, if you need investors, just let us know. Thanks, that's kind. Needless to say money is not an issue. Investment bankers are drooling and the thought of Erik Buell and an entire building full of talent. It's not like Erik is a kid showing potential. He's a known quantity and has changed the industry. Without him there are at least 3 Harley-Davidson products that likely wouldn't exist. It's going to be an exciting time. |

AMEN. I look forward to buell stepping out of the HD shadow. New models and improved service will be exciting, given time. |

H-D knows exactly how much they will save by cutting Buell. Too the penny. BUT because they don't have to make it public and because at the rate Buell has been losing money over the last three years it will take decades to break even on the 125 million they are dropping on this deal they don't want to reveal a number. Believe me if the numbers made sense they would be letting investors know them. The numbers make no sense. |

Losing money? I thought Buell was making money, albeit, minimally. |

How much money of that was R&D... Putting money in developing a product then shelving it pretty stupid... HD has a History of that though...
Hey how much Buell Technology has made its way into HD over the years? |

Maybe they were losing money on Buell through the HOG financing deals...? That seems to be the big hole in H-D's wallet. ~SM |

Buellgrrl; Corvair? I admit to being a little biased (Corvair- powered Myers Manx was first car I ever drove), but anyone should appreciate the comparison. Like Buell, Corvair was unjustly maligned ('65-69 models greatly improved), misunderstood, and prematurely terminated. Unlike the Corvair, there's still a lot of room for Buell to move upward and onward. Excellent point about dealer support, though. |

>>>Something to do with this? No. My reference is to a project that occurred about 15 years ago. A friend of mine was in a bind, needed money. Contracted to design a COMPLETE (starting with a blank sheet) motorcycle as a consultant to a company. His involvement ended when he tendered the final design. The bike was produced and is a top seller to this day. We're about a book or two away from telling that story. Good ideas . . . . well, always are. |

What can WE do besides sit and wait!?! This is killing me... I was a huge Buell fan for three years before I finally could barely afford my own... the Buell guy at Sauk Prarie knew me because I would come in and sit on the floor models every time I drove up that way... WTF??? I have been talking to friends about this for four days now and even the motorcycle nuts I know DO NOT get it... there is the deer in the headlights look from most... I don't think the average HD owner feels as strongly as Buell people do... probably because we stick together... |
